A Young Racer Jumps to the Bigs
Bobby LaPonte is avowedly only a youth. He’s 6 seasons of age, an only child, and lives with his family in Johns Creek, Ga. .
But Bobby has large goals. Despite being jovial in age, he’s completely focused on his dream to sometime race in NASCAR’s huge leagues, the Sprint Cup Series.
Bobby’s dreams are so giant, actually, that he often dreams regarding racing with the big guys. According to his folks, Larry and Nancy, he even mimicks the noise of NASCAR cars in his sleep.
Larry believes that his kid gave escalate to his love of NASCAR while still inside his mother.
“I drove the amateur track course tour for 10 seasons,” he insisted. “When my wife was expecting with Bobby, she would always be there to watch me drive and we think that’s when Bobby started his obsession with nascar.”
Much akin to Jeff Gordon with his daughter Ella, the LaPontes maintain pictures of baby Bobby climbing in and back out his dad’s auto when he was just a toddler.
Bobby would practice each day if he may, and he gets that chance with the long driving season, from March through November, in the south. He and his dad drive every Saturday and Sunday, often going to other states, which include Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee, to partake in their regional events.
This previous July, Bobby raced in his 1st national championship event. He won his semifinal group race.
Bobby is quick to notify you that he competes in quarter midgets, a smaller kind of the USAC Midget Sprint cars that Cup racers such as NASCAR’s title point head Tony Stewart begun his career driving.
Bobby lets you recognize that because he plans to trail in Stewart’s footsteps and take that identical road in his own driving career.
This small guy indeed is looking forward to realizing his large NASCAR dreams, that of driving with his heroes in the years to come.
