Arrowheads and How Hard Is It to Find Them
Are you looking to find arrowheads and other American Indian artifacts? If you are then you need to be made aware this isn’t a straightforward task. These kinds of things have price and if just anyone could find them it wouldn’t be any fun at all now would it. The very first thing you’ll have to take under consideration is where to search for arrowheads of Native Americans. There are also certain conditions which may be favorable when going on these sorts of searches. If you are a collector of such items then you may wish to consider looking in some of these places to find arrowheads and other valuable artifacts.
The New England Countryside
* The Great Plains
* Various Coastal Areas
* Various areas of the southwest
As with anything of this nature, there are areas that are better than others to search because of the numbers of Native Americans that used to inhabit these areas. So basically some areas will be easier than others to find these special and valuable artifacts.
Warnings about where to look
You do want to make sure that where you are looking that you aren’t on somebody’s property and trespassing, if so you might probably get in difficulty. More importantly you will want to be sure that you do not go looking in these areas that are noted below. You could finish up in difficulty with the law if you do, but also there’s the factor of respecting other people’s land.
* Native American property
* Private property
* Historical property
Now not all people will look into the rules and know where they can and cannot be searching and some just don’t care and do as they please, because all they want is to find the valuable artifacts. If you want to go onto private property, then it is best to contact the owner and get their permission, it will save you a lot of headaches. And most landowners are really good about this and will give you the ok to be on their property.
How should you react if you stumble on something?
Arrowheads along with other important artifacts are important to certain people. There are people who may want to see them and you should take this into consideration if you feel you’ve found something of true historical significance. If you feel you’ve found a valuable arrowheads or some other artifacts take the time to have them examined by a professional archaeologist who’ll be able to give you more insight as to their value. If they are especially valuable they may not belong in your possession, they may be better suited in one of the following places.
* A historical museum where other people can observe them
* In the hands of a historian who can study them for historical significance
* In the hand of archaeologists who are eager to study such things
* Preserved so they can be in good condition
Don’t be selfish if you should happen to find some valuable arrowheads or artifacts. Usually you’ll be compensated if you do decide to give it to one of the places I mentioned above.
