Designing Your Teenager’s Bedroom
Now it’s time to rearrange your teen’s room and redecorate it. Originally they might have a different idea than you do but together you can compromise and make it work out to suit both of your needs.
Together you need to sit down and go over your ideas and learn to compromise. They may want something totally different from what you want but if you give them more options then you can reach a compromise and get started quicker. It might take a few hours of arguing to reach a compromise but it is worth it.
Teenagers need a lot of colors that are bright. The walls are not the only thing that can display the bright colors. Add pictures that incorporate bright colors and add a bright colored frame around the picture. Comforters can display any color that they want and you can change it easily. Window treatments are another thing in the room that can be changed easily as well as throw pillows. You may want to go with neutral colors.
Floor coverings for a teen’s room is a great way to incorporate the colors they want. The teen can choose any design, color, or pattern that interests your teen. For example, to get a modern look your teen may want to use an area rug with a geometrical design. An area rug is easy to spot clean so you don’t need to worry about stains that become permanent.
When you and your teenager start to design their bedroom, remember to keep an open mind, let them use color, and incorporate area rugs to complete the look. Sure, the look they want will probably change in a couple of months so be as cost effective as possible and let them have fun! Now is the time to let them really start expressing themselves, with a little guidance of course! Remember to have fun, make it functional, and always keep it as stress free as possible. Now, let’s get to decorating!
