Easy Tips On How To Save A Marriage

Any relationship can be tough. No matter what the relationship is – marriage, dating, or even an employer / employee relationship – there will be good times, and there will be some pretty bad times. However, the trick is to understand early when the problems begin, and then aggressively work to ward off future issues. Here are some simple ways how to save a marriage!

It takes two to tango, and it usually takes two to cause disharmony in a relationship. If you and your spouse find that you are arguing and fighting all the time, it’s because you don’t listen to each other. No one listens after the voice is raised to a certain level. Listening occurs in a calm environment. How do you get someone to listen? Ask them to listen! It takes practice. Listening is a learned skill and one that needs constant attention. You can’t listen once and then think you’ve done your job.

However, problems usually happen because communication has come to a halt. When someone says, “You don’t listen to me, ” they mean it. It’s another way of saying that you two have problems. Ignoring the warning signs, or even ignoring the pleas from your spouse, further proves you are not interested in the relationship, and certainly not in your spouse.

Every relationship needs a basis in trust. Throw in respect, and you should have years of success in front of you. Common interests can only get you so far. Marrying your best friend only works for a while. Love and devotion are the beginnings of a great marriage, and the best way to keep a marriage happy to is keep the love alive and the devotion forthcoming.

If you head to a marriage counselor, the first question you will hear is, “Do you want to save your marriage?” The assumption is usually that of course you do, since you are there. But how many people have been all but dragged to marriage counseling and they did not want to be there? Answer the question honestly – if you want to save your marriage, then work on it. If you don’t, then leave.

To get your marriage back on track there are some simple things to do – probably things you should have been doing all along: listen and react appropriately to issues that are brought to your attention; be nice; bring flowers and wine for the heck of it; spend time together – and that doesn’t mean sitting in a room together watching TV; offer to cook or take your wife out to dinner if she’s had a busy day. Don’t sit around expecting to get waited on.

And of course, stop the fighting, the accusations, the yelling and start listening.
