How To Recognize a Bad Office Cleaning Company
Many businesses hire outside cleaning companies to clean their offices, often for a variety of reasons. One reason is that their employees aren’t trained in how to clean or do not have available time to clean their own offices. Employees also may not know which cleaning products are best for specific areas such as restrooms. Being in the business, cleaning service companies can do all of these things, and they can provide valuable assistance to the businesses that hire them.
However, there are times when you think you have hired the right people for the job, only to find out later that they are not as good as you thought they were. One of the signs that a cleaning service is bad is that they either don’t come in when they are supposed too, or even don’t come in at all.
You can immediately tell this when you come in and find the garbage cans have not been emptied, or the reception area hasn’t been vacuumed if there is carpeting, or bare floors not swept or mopped.
Having your bathrooms cleaned every day is important. If a cleaning service does not clean your bathrooms regularly, you could end up with a health hazard, for your clients as well as your employees. Some cleaning companies only do half of the job, such as only cleaning the toilets or just cleaning the sinks. They might neglect cleaning the walls or the floors, or overlook emptying the trash containers. This is a sure sign that you hired a cleaning company that is not doing their job.
Instead of sending their own workers in to clean a business, a cleaning service may sometimes subcontract other workers to come in to the business and do the cleaning. When a cleaning company does this it is typically because they have spread themselves too thin by taking on too many jobs, and they are unable to do them all. Many times the subcontractors are not properly trained and have poor job skills. They may also steal from your business and unless you have a camera security setup, you might never know until it is too late.
If your office has a strong chemical smell when you arrive in the morning, chances are good that your cleaning service isn’t using the correct cleaning products. They may even be using cleaning chemicals in certain places that they shouldn’t. It might be that they are using the same cleaning products for the bathrooms and the other parts of the office. This practice leads to cross-contamination and can create several health issues.
Some businesses encounter a language barrier when dealing with their cleaning services. The cleaning company’s employees cannot speak English, so it is difficult to communicate any cleaning needs to them. No business should discriminate against anyone, but if your cleaning company does not understand what you need, there is a problem.
If the head of your cleaning company is always on vacation, or not available to you when you need them, then you should change to another service. It isn’t fair to you to have to deal with these problems when there are so many other companies out there that will bend over backwards to make sure your office is clean and tidy just the way you like it. If you are having any of these problems, or any other that can’t be resolved, fire them.
