These days communication with the others has never been easier. Amazing advancements in all things digital (I-phones, cell phones, text messaging, etc) have given us incredible means to reach others at 24/7 whether near or far, just press a button and the message is on its way. But my guess is that your ability to reach your spouse has become increasingly difficult. All the technology certainly does not let us feel our partners heart, or let us see what they are not saying.

First lets put down any and all devices. Lets take a few technology steps back and go to the days of face to face live voice. Lets make sure we can see and hear the silence between the sounds and interpret the unspoken meaning of a pressed lips or teary eyes. You’ve got to be able to hear the shapes and sounds in each others heart. You can NOT accomplish this with a text message or email.

Personal communication has very little to do with the technology but everything to do with getting our thoughts across to each deeply. Its almost like being able to understand each other without words. So forget the act of seeking to contact, or reach other and instead focus on really trying to understand where you partner is coming from considering their logic and deeply held feelings or beliefs,

We should be asking ourselves NOT, How do I communicate effectively with my spouse. But rather, How do I connect with my spouse again? Once you reconnect, you wont be sitting there text messaging and waiting for a reply, nor will you be at a loss for words. Talk wont be strained or stressful, but rather it will be like the old days ” when you used to finish each other sentences.
