Our Experience With the Head Liquidmetal Radical

A now classic racquet, the Head Liquidmetal Radical comes in two sizes for the competitive player. First, we will take a look at a popular racquet used on the pro circuit, the Head Liquidmetal Radical Midplus.

With lighter racquets emerging each year, the Radical is somewhat heavy, but we were okay with this when testing it out. This gave a sense of stability to the racquet, giving a great element of control to our strokes. The spin was exceptional too.

In the serving department, the Liquidmetal Radical passes the test with flying colors. The sweet spot is sizable and allows for a smooth serve, and an equally comfortable return of serve.

The Liquidmetal Radical is one of the most successful racquets in tennis history as far as sales are concerned, and much of it has to do with the overall frame and comfort it gives to its owners.

As a bonus, anyone looking for some extra comfort will be happy to know that the over-sized model gives an additional nine square inches. The larger sweet spot makes it all the more easy to hit steady shots.

While most experienced players will generally frown upon an over-sized racquet, we had no qualms with it here. The control that’s usually sacrificed with an over-sized racquet didn’t seem to be much of an issue this time around.

Serving is extremely comfortable with this racquet. It packs a good deal of power with an easy swing weight. The control is there, and with the head size, the Head Liquidmetal Radical could become a nice weapon for a serve and volley player.

The only negative about the over-sized racquet as compared to the mid-plus was the lack of spin on the over-sized. Anyone who emphasizes spin would be keen to go with the mid-sized racquet.

Anyone looking for a steady racquet to complement their advanced game will be really happy with the Head Liquidmetal Radical. We certainly were.
