Today I went outside and I got the first glimmer of spring warmth. The sun was shining and I could recognize a green piece of lawn under the blanket of white snow!

Now I am all enthusiastic and motivated to get my preparations done for the work on my lawn and landscape in 2009.

Now is the time to get prepared for the busy season. Start early with the preparations because now you the big companies give you discounts on the things you need and you can save some money!

This is my “weekend to-do” list. These things need to be done for the coming lawn care season.

Application of Lawn Fertilization

The first thing I always do at this time of the year is to purchase some good fertilizer. Applying fertilizer helps the lawn to get up from winter sleep, grow faster and to green after the winter. Since I do not like to have unwanted insects in my garden in summer, I install a special crab grass control application.

It is important to sharpen the blade, so that the manicure will be perfect. If you do not want to do it yourself, get a professional doing it.

However, the local lawn mower shops are busy in early spring because a lot of people need to tune up their machines. So don?t wait for special offers, get it ready now. Most of the shops will be completely booked in March and you don?t wasn?t to wait with the first cut until your lawn is overgrown.

As soon as the magnolia trees are blooming you can start cutting your grass. It is the perfect time because the temperature increase and your lawn will be growing as well.

So if you want to enjoy a really nice garden in summertime, get prepared for it now. If you pay attention to these tips there won?t be too much weed and you can use the time for nice things as lying in the pool!
