An Eye Mask Induces Melatonin Production and Improves Your Health

An Eye Mask Induces Melatonin Production and Improves Your Health

An eye mask is really necessary for getting the most from your sleep mainly because it helps get rid of exposure to surrounding light. The darker your environment when you sleep, the less likely light will go into your eyes and impact the level of melatonin the body creates during the night.

What is the purpose of melatonin?

Melatonin is a hormone that’s produced by the pineal gland in the brain. The quantity of melatonin that’s produced depends on the quality of your sleep- the time frame your body awakens and rests. Our bodies have an internal clock-so to speak-that creates melatonin depending on the level of light and darkness you become exposed to.

Do you get mood swings when you are traveling over multiple timezones? The reason why we get those nasty effects of jet lag is because our internal clock is out of sync. If you are flying abroad, you are probably receiving a lot of sun light or not enough. The pineal gland is confused since it relies on the eyes’ balanced contact of day light and darkness as a way to provide a sign of when you should start producing melatonin. Therefore, the proportion of day light to the dark is not balanced so the pineal gland will make really low amounts of melatonin. This makes a significant influence on your mood and the quality of your entire day.

The Potential risks Associated with Melatonin Insufficiency

The Pineal Gland secretes melatonin while we sleep at night time. This is exactly why it is essential that you block exposure of light from entering into your eyes while melatonin. The instant your eyes become subjected to light, your body stops making melatonin because it believing that it is day time and that you are actually ready to get up.

Studies have shown that melatonin deficiency is linked to lack of sleep, restlessness, sadness, and increased risks to cancer.

If you are deficient in melatonin, one thing you can do is take melatonin supplements which can be purchased over-the-counter from the pharmacy. If you don’t like taking supplements then you should give consideration to using an eye mask routinely. Regardless of what you prefer, both are inexpensive yet effective ways to control melatonin levels and avert potential risks to your wellness.

The Most Significant Thing to Keep in Mind Is: Getting sufficient Melatonin is A Vital Element of your Overall Wellness. Using an Eye Mask Can Help You Optimally Produce Melatonin and Boost Your Health

Make a common practice out of wearing an eye mask. Habitual use of it will supercharge your mood and overall wellness. Remember all of those restless evenings getting interrupted by a clock glaring its light right back at you. Or surrounding street lights beaming down your windowpane. A sleep mask doesn’t just enable you to meet optimum level of melatonin but you will also get out of bed in a better mood and you will be excited to starting the new day. Make small strides to look after your health now and you are guaranteed a more healthy tomorrow.

There are three obsessive behaviors that you are likely to be engaging in that impede your healing process and stop you from enjoying a happy and relaxed life. Recognizing these barriers can be an excellent step towards getting rid of the problems associated with being over-stressed. If you have hobbies already, such as writing for fun these might have staved off your stress in the past, but might not be working now because of the blocking behaviours.

The first is obsessive negativity. Obsessive negativity means that you tend to be “negative” about people, places, situations, and things in your life.

Obsessed negativity can be from the banal (“There’s never anything good on TV when I want to watch”), through to the more deep-seated psychological and self-esteem-related thought patterns (“I can never do anything right”, or “People are out to get me”). Solid patterns of negativity like this often prevent you from seeing legitimate good things that happen every day all around you.

Obsessive perfectionism is the second challenge, and can be a deep source of anxiety. When you engage in obsessive perfectionism, everything must be done “right” – your way, to either your standards, or some standards that you perceive have been set for you. You may find yourself making internal statements such as, “I have to do this right, or I’ll be a failure!” or “If I am not precise, people will be mad at me!” This behaviour might be totally under the threshold of your awareness, nevertheless it interferes greatly with your ability to enjoy things without feeling stress.

Obsessive analysis is the third one. You might be obsessed about minute details of processes and procedures, going over them again and again until you are sure you understand it in miniscule detail – often far more than is required. You may feel the need to repeatedly go over the finer details of the task, repeating the order in your head just to be sure you’ve got it right. You can’t relax is things go wrong!

While analytical thinking is an excellent trait if it’s done in excess you never get to stop and enjoy even the little things in life because you’re too busy trying to analyse everything and everyone around you. Letting go of stress can sometimes be as simple as realizing that you don’t need to have total control over everything and, in general, things always work out for the best.

What can you do to help relieve your stress? Identifying these blocking behaviours in your life puts you on the path to recovery. Before you engage a medical consultant first, ask the people you know, love, and trust, “Am I negative about things?”, “Do I complain a lot?”, and “Am I difficult to be around?”

You will need to approach this with an open mind because the truth can hurt, but this is the quickest way of finding out whether others see you differently to how you expect them to see you. The insights you gain can be used to actively change how you deal with life.

Secondly, keeping a diary of what you do and how it makes you feel can help identify the activities that cause blocking behaviours. Once you start to see patterns you can make changes to break those destructive activities down and replace them with positive activities.

Other relaxing hobbies you could take up to take your mind off anxiety include buying magazines or getting a home theatre system.

Having a loved one or being diagnosed with bipolar can cause havoc in your emotional life. Daily struggles with emotions are a burden to bear that no others except those with the disorder seem to understand. The diagnosis usually means that you have been told that only pharmaceutical medication will manage the condition. Having the experience of suffering the side-effects of every mood stabiliser, varieties of anti-anxiety medication along with anti-depressants and anti-psychotics I know how desperate you can become to avoid the side-effects. The hope that comes and then is dashed with the trial of each new medication is just a roller coaster ride that you don't need. My own psychiatrist after seeing the horrible side-effects endured eventually recommended I get a 'second opionion' as he was out of options. That lead me down the path of natural supplements. I have finally after trial and error found the supplements that work best as they work in the same way as mood stabilisers without the side-effects. The key to how these supplements work is that they prevent the cell from becoming in essence 'overexcitable' and firing repetitively. To prevent to much glutamate into the cells which is an 'excitotoxin' is key- why glutamate- because it overstimulates your nerve cells to death and has been implicated in the rise of many brain disorders. Dr Russell Blaylock in his book: Excitoxins the taste that kills, explains what an impact the food we eat has on our mood and future brain health. Below is a list of my top two supplements which will be followed by the rest up to the top ten

The hope that comes and then is dashed with the trial of each new medication is just a roller coaster ride that you don’t need. My own psychiatrist after seeing the horrible side-effects endured eventually recommended I get a ‘second opionion’ as he was out of options. That lead me down the path of natural supplements. I have finally after trial and error found the supplements that work best as they work in the same way as mood stabilisers without the side-effects. The key to how these supplements work is that they prevent the cell from becoming in essence ‘overexcitable’ and firing repetitively. To prevent to much glutamate into the cells which is an ‘excitotoxin’ is key- why glutamate- because it overstimulates your nerve cells to death and has been implicated in the rise of many brain disorders. Dr Russell Blaylock in his book: Excitoxins the taste that kills, explains what an impact the food we eat has on our mood and future brain health. Below is a list of my top two supplements which will be followed by the rest up to the top ten

Number 1 Supplement

Immunopro- the best whey protein supplement

A powerful immune booster because it the single greatest raiser of glutathione levels. Glutathione competes with glutamate for access to the cells and inhibits excitotoxicity.

Some have found it an amazing supplement to taper of anti-anxiety medications. My own personal experience has been that it has calmed my mind incredibly that I find I am able to switch to that calm space after something stressful which I have never been able to do. The immune boosting benefits I can attest to as I have not had a virus or illness in over a year.

Why this specific whey protein- it is because all the ones that are named ‘whey protein isolate and concentrate’ have been chemically altered and then had, you guessed it, aspartate, glutamic acid and various other excitotoxins added to it- literally killing thousands of neurons by overstimulation with each drink. I have noticed an added bonus is that since starting the Immunopro my nails and hair which have always been notoriously weak have been growing very strong and fast.

Number 2 Supplement

ALPHA LIPOIC ACID

A powerful anti-inflammatory which protects the liver and works to significantly raise your levels of glutathione- protecting you from all the forms of glutamate you ingest. Glutathione levels are very low in people with bipolar and supplementing with Alpha lipoic acid is only recommended if you are already taking a glutathione booster other wise it will work against low levels. NAC or N-Acetyl-Cysteine is another glutathione booster. I prefer Alpha lipoic acid because NAC needs to be dosed continually throughout the day and although it is a powerful anti-depressant, if you have a tendency towards hypomania, than dosing is more difficult to manage

These supplements will be an excellent add on to your current regime of managing your bipolar whether exclusively naturally or with pharmaceuticals

Bipolar sufferer

Have you recently felt the crushing, gnawing pangs of anxiety? Many of us have. I recall the day I initially realized I had an anxiety troubles vividly. I, like many, was at work and a deadline was coming up rapidly for a project I had been assigned, and my boss walked into my office and demand to know what the project status was. Fear reared its ugly head and hit me in the face like a pitcher of ice cold water.

I was cold to the touch, but nevertheless somehow had a thin film of sweat make a sudden appearance all over my body beginning with my forehead, top of my head, and hands. What could I say? I had in fact been procrastinating. The truth is that my anxiousness was implicitly caused by a behavioral problem, yes, but also a neurochemical problem (which I was causing!). I had been drinking an average of four to five mugs of gourmet coffee every single day to keep the momentum moving, and this was clearly quite excessive.

What I did not understand is that all of the coffee drinking was ultimately not even necessary. As a matter of fact, every single mug that I imbibed only increased my dependency more, and by the following week was only covering up the fundamental symptoms of caffeine withdrawal that the coffee itself had created. This frequent coffee sipping was causing my moods and stress system to swing violently from one end of the spectrum to the other all entirely dependent on my blood level content of caffeine.

One of the number one ways that caffeine can manage to throw us out of balance is by messing with night time rest. Coffee possesses a long half-life somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 or 6 hours and this implies that a mere one half of the caffeine in your bloodstream is metabolized six hours after drinking. This consequently means that depending on the amount you imbibed, and the time you drank it, coffee can interfere with your ability to receive those deeper levels of restorative sleep.

What does this mean? This means that when you get out of bed the next morning after you’re indeed going to feel quite tired, and maybe even somewhat irritable. The next step in the cycle’s progression is that you will reach for that morning pot of fresh brewed coffee, and perhaps because you already feel so lethargic you will drink just a bit more than you really need and therefore put yourself on the precipice of a full blown anxiety attack rather rapidly… and all you require at this point is the trigger to set you off.

Accept it or not, going to sleep and staying asleep doesn’t have to be difficult. I understand that this may appear unrealistic to you if you’ve been struggling with insomnia or simply experience sleepless nights every once in a while but you have got to understand that it is the actual facts.

As long as you are familiar with some basic methods and what is available out there vis sleeping aids then getting a good nights sleep can be a piece of cake. Are you read to find out precisely what’s needed to fall asleep quickly the natural way? Alright then, let’s get down to business…

Become familiar With These Basic Sleeping Tips

There are certain tips that folk need to be familiar with if they plan on getting the best sleep achievable. And fortunately for you I am going to share the most vital of these tips at the moment.

1. What you’re doing at this time. Yes, that is right. Browsing the net before bedtime is a massive no no if you’d like to sleep. Sat at the PC and looking at a bright screen for hours on end is going to keep you awake when trying to trot off to bed. Therefore if you need to sleep well then remember not to go on the computer right before bed.

2. Listening to music is a way to sooth your mind and let yourself drift away into the sleeping state. However, any old music will not do. Ensure that you are listening to music that has a regular beat or speed. The natural regular flow of music is what will put you to sleep. If you’re listening to music that has an irregular rhythm then you are going to be concentrating on it more and actively listening. You do not need this.

3. Uninteresting yourself to death is another neat method to go to sleep simply. It’s not an extremely common technique discussed nevertheless it is very effective however. Hence so as to fall asleep using this method just pull out a thick novel lying around your house or listen to one-dimensional lecture. Whatever bores you, do it.

My husband, who is a Vietnam veteran, was diagnosed with it a few years ago.

My husband, who is a Vietnam veteran, was diagnosed with it a few years ago.

It is a mental disorder that happens after a traumatic event or series of events. It doesn’t occur only with those who have been to war, but to victims of natural disasters, sexual abuse, criminal attacks or accidents. Some of the Hurricane Katrina survivors, for example, are beginning to go through the stages, due to the horrific experiences they went through.

So much of the public has a misconception about this condition. I blame this, in part, on the many unfair portrayals of Vietnam war vets, on television and in films, as deranged psychos and serial killers. While it’s true that there are some individuals with such severe problems that they may do the unthinkable, it doesn’t mean that every sufferer poses a threat to anyone and many endure their pain in silence, because they fear being categorized negatively.

Those with PTSD may not even realize that they have this condition, only that they are going through physical and emotional difficulties which they can’t explain. They often feel as though they have no control over anything. Symptoms include depression, lack of concentration, flashbacks, nightmares, insomnia, paranoia, reliving harrowing events over and over again, episodes of anger, hypervigilance and social alienation.

Physical symptoms can occur as well and include chest pain, headaches, dizziness, and immune system problems. Some people with it go through substance abuse, marital and other relationship problems and social anxiety.

My husband’s experience was that he felt that he had nowhere to turn, so he didn’t get help for years, due to the stigma he believed was attached to getting counseling. He went through divorce, estrangement from his children and fear of getting too close to anybody. He developed a way of camouflaging his condition publicly, but, in private, he was suffering tremendously.

After we married, I was able to persuade him to go get assessed by a counselor at the VA, which he did and they diagnosed him. He has since been in counseling and been prescribed drugs to treat depression and insomnia.

Counseling has been extremely cathartic for him and being able to relate to others who understand what he has been going through has helped him to open up more. He is slowly, but surely, going through the healing process now and is quite relieved that he is no longer suffering quietly.

You don’t have to be a veteran to have it. If you or a loved one has experienced some trauma in life and have not been able to resolve or recover from it within a few months, then you may need to seek professional help.

Getting psychotherapy doesn’t mean you are “crazy” and it can aid you in getting better.

Treatments include personal counseling, group therapy and prescription medications for some symptoms. If you dislike the idea of being put on an allopathic medication, due to the potential side-effects, ask your doctor or therapist if you can try an alternative, natural or homeopathic remedy for your condition. Always remember to keep your doctor and/or therapist informed about anything you take, to make certain it is both safe and viable for you.

If you are the family member sufferer, sometimes it might seem as though you are getting caught up in his or her symptoms as well, but learn to be supportive, without being stressed out yourself. If it gets to the point that you are having difficulty dealing with your loved one’s, seek counseling, if you need it.

My husband and I have a happy marriage. He opens up to me now, because of a lot of prayer and because he had the courage to ask for help.

Don’t be afraid to reach out. It can help you to get better.

If you’re looking for a more natural way to enhance your mood, chocolate may be your answer! Xocai Healthy Dark Chocolate that is. There are several components in healthy chocolate that encourage positive mood changes in the brain.

Antioxidants that are plant based are called Flavanols, which are found cacao. Free radicals in your body are the leading cause to ageing, sleep deprivation, inflammation and fatigue. Science studies are showing that our modern day diets are far from having enough antioxidants in it, and that cacao has the highest amount of antioxidants that we need to help battle some of these common problems. The flavanols in the healthy chocolate boosts blood flow to certain areas of the brain in about 2-3 hours after consuming it, which not only help your body resist cell damage but also optimize performance in certain tasks due to the increased alertness by digesting more of these flavanols.

Another important component of healthy chocolate is PEA, or phenylethylamine. PEA is a neurotransmitter in the brain, which helps to boost serotonin and endorphin levels. Endorphins are a chemical found in the brain that is responsible for your mood and can even reduce your pain sensitivity. By consuming additional PEA, you are helping yourself receive those positive signals for increased endorphins, which act as a natural antidepressant to provide you with an overall good feeling. Essentially, you really do have the power to “turn that frown upside down!” It is suspected that depression suffers may be deficient in PEA. So anything we can do to increase the activity of neurotransmitters can only reduced the risk of depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and related conditions.

Tryptophan is also in dark chocolate, it is an essential amino acid that can help you alleviate stress. Tryptophan combined with magnesium and the vitamins B3 and B6, all found in cacao, and creates the secretion of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin helps keep you calm and relaxed. It is the essential chemical in your brain that also acts as an antidepressant.

Cacao contains the richest source of magnesium in nature. Magnesium, along with serotonin, can help reduce the mood swings related to premenstrual syndrome (PMS) by leveling out hormones right before a woman has her period. This may be one reason why some women crave chocolate around their menstrual cycle. If you crave chocolate all the time, you may be magnesium deficient. Studies show that most people are magnesium deficient and this has been linked to depression, menopausal symptoms, migraines, diabetes, and heart disease.

Also present in dark chocolate is theobromine, a natural stimulant that is considered to be caffeine’s less potent cousin with none of the negative attributes. Theobromine has the ability to create an increased sense of alertness without the typical side effects of caffeine. Improved blood flow and amplified energy have also been found to be attributed to the ingestion of theobromine.

To achieve the maximum health benefits, you need to consume at least 1,000mg of flavonoids throughout the day. Chocolate that has not been heated and has been minimally processed will have the highest amounts of natural health boosting components. So if you are looking for the most nutrient-rich chocolate available, try the cold-pressed Xocai Healthy Chocolate. They are so confident that their chocolate has the highest antioxidants available that the ORACFN and Flavonoids values (tested by a third party laboratory) are listed on each package. Their process produces an antioxidant rich cocoa powder that is 2 to 8 times higher than other dark chocolate.

1 in 4 adults are suffering from some form of a mood disorder, and are becoming more and more common. So common that the National Institute of Mental Health reports that the onset of depression is occurring among us as humans as it was more than 10 years ago. Think about it, how many people do you know on antidepressants, and that is just the ones that tell you about it!

Xocai healthy chocolate is an enjoyable every day product that contains the perfect blend of flavanols, PEA, tryptophan, magnesium, and theobromine to effectively boost your mood.

There are times that schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder or OCD can simultaneously take place in a person suffering a disorder at a particular time in his or her life. Especially that in cases of OCD, the person suffering from it will most likely have mental issues that affect his or her thoughts as well. It would be likely that the person undergoing obsessive compulsive disorder, develop hallucinations and delusions that could lead to development of a much more worse mental malady. If symptoms are detected early it would be very wise to seek professional help right away to prevent the worsening of the condition as it may lead into something irreversible.

Both schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder appear to affect both genders on an equal level. And such disorders are statistically common to begin around the early to adolescent stages. Often along with OCD, different types of schizophrenia can be manifested into the patient depending on the severity of his or her ill condition. However, there are no data that points to certain consistencies of a specific type of OCD exclusive only to a particular type of schizophrenia as well. Plus the emergence and discovery of new OCD symptoms makes it more difficult for scientists to find that link between schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Obsessions against Delusions

The overlapping of the nature of the symptoms for OCD and schizophrenia makes it more difficult to distinguish what exactly is the disorder at hand.

A very important consideration to take note is that at times delusions are common manifestations of schizophrenia. They are instances wherein the mind produces false thoughts and that they can be very intrusive. Very much like of an obsession where in unwanted and intrusive thoughts infiltrate the mind of the individual suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder or OCD.

However, in some cases, obsessions or irrational thoughts are more rooted into physical things in the surrounding. By physical we mean, things that are more perceivable or tangible. In an obsession, the thoughts usually revolve around ideas like sexual aggressions, repetitions, counting and religious scrupulosity and symmetry.

However, there are times that they are just completely different. Until now, researchers are still looking for that pivotal point wherein they could finally put an end to all of the debates in distinguishing schizophrenia from a solely OCD case.

Gary Newman once had OCD schizophrenia. He never how to get rid of OCD until one day he discovered something on the web that changed his life forever. Now he is living as normal as anyone is, free from obsessive thoughts and compulsions.

Despair is a critical illness that affects more than 18 million adults within the United States alone. Consultants say that depression is the second commonest illness amongst adults, with heart disease being the most common. Those that endure from depression have a hard time dealing with every day life and will have hassle forming or staying in relationships, holding a job, and even just going outside.

Melancholy can affect anybody at any age and could come from any variety of causes. Depression will be introduced on by a severe trauma in a person’s life that they’ve bother dealing with. Or melancholy can simply seem seemingly out of nowhere and with no apparent cause. There are quite a lot of physical issues that are attributed to medical depression. So should you’re suffering from severe aches and pains and you’ve seen a physician and the doctor can’t discover a bodily motive for the ache, the cause may not be physical; it is perhaps mental. The cause might be clinical depression.

Melancholy is not the same for every person who suffers from it either. There are, actually, many several types of depression. Generally despair lasts for months or even years and typically it lasts only for a number of weeks depending on what sort of melancholy you have. Despair is a psychological condition that has a physical part so generally, unless the psychological condition is handled, the despair will come back time and again until the underlying psychological problem is dealt with.

As a result of despair is such a common illness, Western medication and the big drug companies have created many different kinds of medicine to deal with depression. The problem is that not all of these medicine are effective. Even worse, some of these drugs can have critical unwanted effects that include a deepening of despair and even suicidal thoughts. Some medicine also can cause extra psychological problems. The truth is that drugs alone can’t treatment depression. The perfect that drugs can do is to manage the symptoms of despair and plenty of medication solely masks the symptoms.

As a result of despair is such a typical drawback and due to the intense side effects associated with drug remedy for melancholy, tens of millions of individuals wish to various therapies like Homeopathy to handle their signs and treat their depression. Homeopathy as a medical observe has been practiced for thousands of years and there’s evidence that Homeopathy and different various remedies will be effective for managing depression.
