<p>How it works is this, a person will eat whatever they want one day and then drastically cut calories the next. This is what they call &#8220;calorie cycling&#8221; or &#8220;calorie shifting&#8221;, and you basically trick the body into thinking it is not being deprived or restricted, when it really is. Eating whatever you want one day and then high protein foods the next helps to keep the metabolism from getting sluggish so that the body doesn&#8217;t stop burning fat.</p>
<p>This diet is essentially broken down into a cycle of &#8220;feed days&#8221; and &#8220;burn days&#8221;. On a feed day you are to consume up to 150% of your required calorie intake, eating the foods that you love but doing it in controlled portions. Then on the burn day you reduce your calorie intake to 30 to 50% of your required daily intake of calories. The meals on those days should be high in protein. Some choose to fast on one of the days but this is not recommended nor part of this program.</p>
<p>What it boils down to is no sacrificing, no depriving yourself, and no cravings to give into. If you want the pizza and chips, you can go ahead and eat them. But you&#8217;ll always need to keep in mind control and moderation. Don&#8217;t overdo it by eating a week&#8217;s worth of calories at one time. This will cause you to go backwards, instead of forwards, with the program.</p>
<p>The plan is good for those who are unsure on what exactly they should be eating as it comes with a food plan. This will tell you plainly what you should be eating and just how much of it. It may or may not include a buddy system, since many of them think you can&#8217;t do it alone. A diet buddy system like Alcoholic Anonymous. Most will require charts and/or logins. Many will have meetings. There is always Action and Plan, Plan and Action.</p>
<p>No matter which plan or system you choose, follow the plan. Lose the weight. Become beautiful. Wear thin people clothes. Go on television as the person that lost all that weight. Be loved by millions. Get a sports car. Be admired. Be interviewed. Write a book. Let the exciting person inside of you out. Or, do nothing, change nothing, and remain as you are.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve just finished reading online reviews of about thirty weight loss plans, everything from NutriSystems and Weight Watchers to Fatloss4idiots to Jarrod&#8217;s Subway diet. They discussed health, calories, protein, diet pills, weight gain, carbs, grapefruit, and just about everything else that&#8217;s involved in being healthy. They reviewed how to lose weight with exercise, diet foods, and all forms of diet plans. You can get hypnosis. You can get diet pills. All of them have one objective- to help you if you really want to lose weight. We were looking for the right plan for me. Some of the weight loss programs I considered are very good, some, not so much. One review really caught my eye. It was a testimonial on a major website from a woman that simply blew me away. She was asked about her current low calorie diet. Maybe she didn&#8217;t mean it as a testimonial, but here it is. You decide. &#8220;Whenever I find that weight isn&#8217;t falling off of me based on reduced calories (Plan A), I just go back to Plan B. I dropped just about 4 lbs by day 4. I&#8217;m always amazed at how this diet works for me.&#8221; &#8211; K. Jones (via email) I can see where someone might could call that a testimonial. Would you? Testimonials are there to convince you that you can do it. You already know you can lose the weight, so the testimonials are just there to reinforce your own opinion. Heck, you could even become a spokesperson for the plan of your choice. You could be doing the testimonial! Look at all of them you see on TV. Any one of them COULD BE YOU! They want you to succeed and show others. You are worthy, so do it!</p>
<p>Remember this: If you agree to do something and don&#8217;t do it, it is no different than if you had not agreed to it in the first place. It doesn&#8217;t matter what it is, its no different than not agreeing in the first place.</p>
<p>We have done a lot of homework on this subject because it matters. We have written many reviews of many products, including several times about this lady&#8217;s particular plan. The question becomes, &#8220;Why is it just a backup plan?&#8221; Well, there are a couple of reasons, but mostly, she isn&#8217;t where she wants to be and she isn&#8217;t sticking to her plan to get there. She agreed to Plan A, but isn&#8217;t doing it. She isn&#8217;t sticking to her own plan to lose weight so she thinks that by adding a second plan to the works that everything will be okay. She may as well not have gone on Plan A in the first place. Besides, mixing two different diet plans is not going to get her where she feels she has to be. It will probably cost her her health in the long run.</p>
<p>Sorry! If you don&#8217;t make a decision on what you want, set some goals, create a plan, and work at it, you won&#8217;t lose much weight. Expect exercise. I know, the exercise is hard, but it&#8217;s better for the exercise to be hard than your arteries. Besides, light exercise actually makes the diet work.</p>
<p>The rest? It&#8217;s pretty simple, really. It&#8217;s up to you. You have to set up a plan and follow it. Lose the weight. Become beautiful. Wear thin people clothes. <p>The Zone diet is one of many diet programs in the market today. This diet was developed by Dr. Barry Sears and was originally designed for people with diabetes. It has since been recognized as a diet beneficial to everyone.</p>
<p>Celebrities including former President Bill Clinton, Madonna, Brad Pitt and many others have adopted this diet.</p>
<p>The primary focus of The Zone diet is to control the hormone, insulin. This is why the diet was given its name. The theory is that insulin levels should be neither too high nor too low. Insulin should be in an ideal range known as The Zone.</p>
<p>Dr. Barry Sears claims that food is the most powerful drug known to man and should be treated as careful as any other drug. The food one eats is directly responsible for controlling insulin levels. Eating too much of a particular nutrient causes insulin levels to rise too high. Spending too much time between meals causes insulin levels to fall too low.</p>
<p>According to The Zone diet, when insulin levels rise too high, the body starts storing fat. When insulin levels fall too low, the body goes into starvation mode and retains any existing fat. Keeping insulin levels in the correct zone places the body in the ultimate fat-burning mode. The Zone diet allows the body to burn the maximum amount of fat while maintaining optimal health.</p>
<p>A well balanced diet that includes the right amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fats is the basis of The Zone diet. Generally speaking, 40% of the diet should be carbohydrates, 30% should be protein, and 30% should be fat. The Zone is often, mistakenly, labeled as a &#8220;low-carb&#8221; diet. But, as you can see from the above ratio, its hardly a low-carb diet.</p>
<p>Carbohydrates are broken down into favorable carbohydrates and unfavorable carbohydrates. Favorable carbohydrates are primarily fruits and vegetables while unfavorable carbohydrates include pasta, white bread, and white rice. Naturally, favorable carbohydrates should make up the majority of the diet&#8217;s overall carbohydrate consumption.</p>
<p>Protein should come primarily from fish, poultry and lean cuts of beef.</p>
<p>Fats should come from monounsaturated fat sources such as nuts and olives. Saturated fats should be reduced as much as possible. Trans fats should be eliminated entirely.</p>
<p>Hormonal control is the ultimate goal with The Zone diet. Maintaining appropriate insulin levels in turn balances other important hormones in the body. Dr. Sears claims that most diseases are caused by hormonal imbalance. Thus, The Zone diet is not just a diet for losing weight; it is a diet for a healthier lifestyle and a longer life.</p>

<p>People often make the mistake of starting a plan, any plan, not just a weight loss plan, is that they do not think about how they will keep to the plan. It is imperative to think ahead to the problems that could occur and threaten to spoil the goals that you hope so much to achieve.</p>
<p>For a start, think about the situations where you will meet those temptations that threaten your plan. If there is a chocolate machine in your workplace and you have to walk past it every day, why not consider another route to your workspace if this is possible, or if not, make sure that you carry no change with you so that you are not tempted to use the machine.</p>
<p>This is just one example and there will of course be many others and you need to remember that you cannot plan for every conceivable eventuality. However just by doing the planning itself, you will become more aware of what your temptations are in your every day life and this will ensure that you are more prepared and you will not get tempted so easily.</p>
<p>The best way of ensuring you think about your aims and plans is to write them down.</p>
<p>Stay in control, stay conscious and alert. Eating is often habitual just as many other bodily functions are habitual. In other words, we don&#8217;t spend a lot of time thinking about it, we just do it. This is a big mistake to make if you are dieting. The key to your weight loss is more often than not in your mind just as much as it is in your stomach. You need to take total control over both what you feel and what you eat and this will enable you to deal more easily in your mind with the cravings and stop them. Please don&#8217;t torment yourself mentally, this is not good either, just try to ensure that you ask yourself the right questions before you choose what you are going to eat.</p>
<p>It is a good idea to think about the consequences and the side effects of what you are going to eat. Tell yourself that you are greater than the urge and you will be able to resist the temptation.</p>
<p>By doing this you are also going to start feeling in control of your mental processes and emotions. You will feel fulfilled in the sense that you are in control of your own fate</p>
<p>Coping with eating Triggers. Its an interesting fact that a lot of the eating you do happens when you are not actually hungry. The reason for this can be explained with a little psychology.  We respond naturally to mental cues or triggers. These can be internal or external in nature. An example of an external trigger is the smell of fish and chips or in the case of this author the sight of a chocolate gateau! Internal triggers take the form of stress, boredom, anxiety and anger to name but a few.</p>
<p>Dealing with external triggers is fairly easy. Don&#8217;t have things in the house that will tempt you, don&#8217;t go near the shop selling your favourite fattening food. The internal triggers are sadly a little harder to deal with.</p>
<p>Now while it is not always possible to eliminate the emotional triggers it is possible to adapt our responses to them. For instance replacing eating with a form of exercise even if it is just a brisk walk will go a long way to avoiding the vicious cycle of submitting to cravings.</p>
<p>Liquids &#8211; the great way to fill up.  Very often we eat due to dehydration. Feeling thirsty is often difficult to distinguish from feeling hungry. Smoothies are great at combating this problem and this is why they have gained such worldwide acclaim, it is much deserved. They can play a central role in your weight loss diet. Not only are they low in calories but they also provide your &#8217;5 a day&#8217; fruit and vegetables in a pleasant and efficient way.</p>
<p>A body that is used to snacking sometimes needs fooling into thinking it is full. One of the best and healthy ways to do this is through liquids. Of course this means low calorie drinks, it does not mean we can start filling up on carbonated (fizzy) sugary drinks.</p>
<p>Plain and simple water is by far the best liquid you can drink. Flavored water is also fine if you find it boring in it&#8217;s natural form. It not only ensures you feel full but it flushes the toxins from your system and keeps your metabolism working really well.</p>
<p>An important thing not to be forgotten, is that you need to treat yourself. There is no fun at all if you have goals and then you don&#8217;t treat yourself. It is well known that rewards ensure you have a sense of achievement and this then leads to your body releasing positive endorphins into the blood.</p>
<p>Set yourself some specific goals, for instance to exercise for 30 minutes each day for 2 weeks, or to cut down by 300 calories a day, you need to give yourself a reward, a special treat. Make the reward a real treat, something maybe that you have wanted for a while, maybe a DVD or something like that. Rewards are a very important part of your long term plan and will make your dieting much more enjoyable.</p>
