The term Lucid Dreams refers to those dreams which one sees with a certain amount of lucidity, that is, the dreamer is consciously aware of the fact that he is in a dream. In lucid dreams how to induce the lucidity condition, then how to maintain it once achieved, thereafter how to proceed to the advanced stages for full dream control are some of the most common and pertinent questions.

As the first question on lucid dreams, how to start the entire process is the most common. It must be noted in this regard that bringing about the required level of lucidity is all about keeping your mind conscious and awake while you travel from the realm of wakefulness to that of the dreams.

In doing so, the main factors are those of preparation, relaxation and meditation. Prepare yourself for it by arranging for a dimly lit, calm and quiet room where you would not be disturbed. Prepare yourself by wearing loose and comfortable clothing and not having food items like caffeine or non vegetarian which generates heat and increases the number of thoughts in your mind. Do away with all negative thoughts, calm your mind and relax for this one in a lifetime experience.

In lucid dreams, how to attain the required level of relaxation is crucial. The best thing to do would be to tense your entire body and thereafter select each part by part and relax it completely. Top this with basic meditation techniques and you will be on your way to relaxing your mind at the same time keeping your mind focused to attain the required condition of deep trance.

Secondly, in case of lucid dreams, how to maintain the lucidity after it has been achieved is the third and perhaps the most important question. Many a times, as a beginner you will find the dream settings to be fading away, or yourself loosing grip on the lucidity, or it may also happen that you force to change something in your dream but it wakes you up. For avoiding all such perils, two of the best methods are those of dream spinning and verbal commands.

The term dream spinning refers to the act of standing in a single spot and turning like a top, spinning round and round like a kid. This tool comes to extensive use in case you are unable to bring on a desired dream setting of your choice or in case of loosing clarity. Moreover, verbal affirmations or the act of continuously stating to your own mind whatever it is that you want to manifest in your dream, is the second way out of any problems in your lucid dream experience.

Coming to the topic of nightmares, in lucid dreams, how to overcome them is a crucial point of discussion. It may be stated at first that the mere awareness that it is only a dream works wonders in nightmare cases. Moreover, using dream spinning or verbal affirmations like “the monster which attacks me every night will become my friend today” will effectively tackle your nightmares.

One can conclude from the above discussion that lucid dreaming is an experience of a lifetime for which effort needs to be put in. Thus, this effort can be made less and easier by meditation on one hand which will handle all ‘pre lucid dreams, how to’ questions while the two techniques mentioned above would answer all the ‘post lucid dreaming, how to’ questions.

Lucid dream is known to occur when a sleeper is aware that he is dreaming. Those who are known to lucid dream can make a contribution to his lucid dream and have the capability to manipulate the unreal things occurring while dreaming.

Most of the lucid dreams are concerning things you want to happen. These dreams generally take place when a person is in the center of a regular dream and abruptly become conscious that he or she is sleeping and must be dreaming. It is at this time that the person is known to be lucid and could enter one of the many levels of lucidity.

To lucid dream at the lowest level of lucidity, he may be faintly aware that he or she is dreaming, however may not be able to think reasonably to be able to understand that anything that happens in the dream is unreal. To lucid dream at the highest level happens when the dreamer is completely aware that he or she is sleeping and can completely control over what’s happening in the dream.

Before you make an attempt to lucid dream, you should work on improving your dream recall. If you are able to retain information about a couple of dreams a night, that should suffice. In order to lucid dream there are many techniques to induce them and with time you may come up with your own personal techniques. Let’s take a close look at one of the techniques to lucid dream.

Reality Testing Technique is one technique to lucid dream is very simply and involves making an effort to decide whether you are awake or in a dream. You can find this out by looking at the world around you and to decide if it is real. One of the ways to achieve this is to become attentive to the world around you and look for dreaming signs.

You must also carry out standard reality checks through the day. It’s a simple concept behind this method which is that you are able to determine that what you witness is just not possible, then in all likelihood you are dreaming.

To begin with you should train yourself to be attentive for signs of during the waking hours. This is to recondition yourself to the acceptance of the world around you and it will not be restricted in the waking hours only, instead should follow you into the world of your dream also.

When you are sure that whatever you have witnessed is possible and is out of the ordinary, you must carry out additional test which is not connected. You can glimpse at a digital clock or look at or read some text. This needs to be repeated after few seconds. Incase there is change in the text or time mysteriously, then you are surely in a dream. When consistency is achieved in performing these reality checks, your hopes get better to be able to persuade a lucid dream.

You only need to understand that you are lucid dreaming in order to achieve lucid dreaming and for this you may carry out a reality check and detailed above.

The term 'Lucid Dreams' literary means coherent or clear dreams. Thus, in simple words but difficult in concept, it refers to being completely aware of oneself during dreaming with the ability to control or manipulate the dream if desired.

The term ‘Lucid Dreams’ literary means coherent or clear dreams. Thus, in simple words but difficult in concept, it refers to being completely aware of oneself during dreaming with the ability to control or manipulate the dream if desired.

Thus, from what we understand from the above, if you know that you are dreaming and moreover have the power to dream about whatever you want and manipulate it as you wish then the ability for inducing lucid dreaming might be stated to be one of the best special powers or abilities anyone can possess. More so because with the knowledge that you are dreaming with the aspect of control, you can actually go ahead and do whatever you feel like in your dreams without any restriction since you know that once you wake up it can never harm you in real life.

This is the reason behind why inducing lucid dreaming is something which people are desperate to develop their skills in. In short it gives you the opportunity to live in a different world and enjoy out of the world experiences while your body sleeps. So if you want to give a hand to try inducing lucid dreams you can take the help of the five techniques mentioned below.

The first and the foremost thing to develop would be the ability to recall dreams since without this, you won’t be bale to tell even if you have experienced a lucid dream. Moreover, recalling your dreams results in being more aware and knowing more about your dreams more. Thus, some things like dream journal, audio recorder, etc can be used to improve upon this.

Secondly, Wake Initiated Lucid Dreams refers to when a person passes from the wakeful state to the realms of dreams with complete self awareness and knowledge and can control the dream imageries which he sees or experiences thereafter. Hence, WILD techniques to keep oneself awake during the hypnogenic state, which is the bordering time between wakefulness and sleep would be to count your breaths, chant slowly in your mind, visualize yourself ascending or descending a flight of stairs and counting the number of stairs, etc. Remember that your objective is to let your body rest and go to sleep but keeping your mind awake by focusing at the same time.

MILD on the other hand means Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams. Such induction involves affirming your mind and the subconscious that you would remember something, a detail or a fact from your dream. In this way, your mind remains conscious during your sleep and when it sees that object in the dream you realize that you are dreaming.

The Sleeping-waking exercise is the fourth technique in inducing lucid dreams. Here you need to go to sleep in the usual time with the alarm clock programmed to wake you up just after a few hours. When you wake up then, in a time when you are usually in deep sleep, do something for 45 minutes to an hour to keep yourself awake. Thereafter again go to sleep. With this kind of an exercise, the mind gets confused regarding whether you are sleeping or whether you are awake and thus results in a mental state that is highly conducive to lucid dreaming when you go to sleep for the next time.

Lastly, it must be said that a discussion can never be complete without stating the techniques that technology has provided us. In this regard mention may be made of the binaural beat method which involves using a pair of headphones and hearing two different kinds of sound vibrations in each of your ears. This results in the synchronization of the different vibrations in you brain which in turn creates a mental state in which inducing lucid dreams can be much facilitated. Other technological objects include specialized lights or dream masks that can be used for lucid dreaming purposes. It can be concluded by saying that whatever the technique used, affirming the mind regarding remembering and realizing a dream and communicating the knowledge to you is what is most important.

A lucid dreamer is a person who sleeps only with his body but his mind is completely wakeful and focused when he traverses to the realms of dreams. Thus, in simple terms it is all about being consciously aware that you in a dream. It must be noted that an adult lucid dreamer also possesses the power of full dream control wherein he can set the dream scenes, and thereafter see, and do whatever he desires.

Lucid dreaming is a very difficult ability to develop. In order to attain that ultimate level of advanced lucid dreaming, one needs to put in a lot of focused effort and make meditation an integral part of life. The skills need to be developed from the basic stages to the intermediate stage and then worked upon to reach the advanced stages with intense focus and regular practice.

If you are someone who occasionally experiences lucidity while you are dreaming, that is, if you suddenly realize that you are in a dream, while you are in one, then it is time for you to try some advanced lucid dreaming techniques so as to induce the basic stage. One such popular stimulus-response based technique is that of MILD or Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream.

An easy example to get initiated with the MILD technique is that, before going to sleep, stare at your hands for a long time and affirm to your own mind that you are going to see your hands in your dream. Softly and peacefully go on doing this till you fall asleep. Every day after waking up, try to recall whether you have seen your hands in your dream and go on doing this everyday. In a matter of one or two weeks, you will actually dream about your hands and at once make the link and realize that you are dreaming. Remember to stay calm and try to explore the dream settings thereon.

While you are going to the second stage of advanced lucid dreaming, try to set yourself goals and explore your dream setting without waking up. Thus, start by testing your senses like whether you can hear or taste in your dream, then test your memory whether you can remember your address and explore your dream setting by opening cupboards, try talking to a dream character, etc. Once you are comfortable with these, try to set some goals like flying or walking to a different place, sing songs, swim underwater, ask the dream character to explain something and then try to remember the response, etc.

In advance lucid dreaming stages where you have the sufficient ability and experience in doing all that you desire, there will be some questions in your mind regarding lucid dreaming, life, death and reality in particular. Remember that if your mind believes that you can do this much in your lucid dreams and no further, then that is what will be. Hence, keep your mind open to constant lucid dreaming experiences and activities without any boundaries thereof. Hence, fly off to far away planets and stars, ask a deceased person about his afterlife experiences, get to know about your own past reincarnations and the like.

In the final step of advanced lucid dreaming, which is rare and extremely difficult to develop, one can attempt to try basic healing of himself or of a person who is ill in reality, or one may also try to alter the course of an actual event through mutual lucid dreaming and the like.

It must be noted that in the last decade, extensive usage of drugs, pills, amino acids and herbs are being discovered and used to induce lucid dreaming conditions, but it can be concluded by saying that the simple fact remains that unless you possess or develop the proper mental state required, advanced lucid dreaming would be a distant dream.

Dreams that you have where you know they are dreams and control the final outcomes of the dream are called lucid dreams. These are the type of dreams where you pick the subject or the person they are about and make the dream come out the way you want yet you feel like you are fully awake, similar to day dreaming.

Lucid dreams can be anything. From a sci-fi fantasy to an adventure or a fairy tale romance, you can dream about anything. Unlike real life, lucid dreams have unlimited possibilities. All you need is imagination.

The difference between normal dreams and lucid dreams is that you control lucid dreams, where normal dreams may wander randomly from subject to subject. You may even have to pinch yourself because they can seem so real versus normal dreams that may be strange, abstract and sometimes scary.

In a dream, certain things will not seem right, like reading words, or colors may not be pronounced. There are simple tests many people do to see if they are really are having a lucid dream or are in a state like sleep walking, for example.

There are times that you like someone and want to be with someone. However, it might not be possible in reality but it is definitely possible in a lucid dream. You can even date and marry a Hollywood star in a lucid dream.

In a lucid dream, you can change the outcome if you don’t like how the dream is heading. If you imagine you are with your loved one that has passed, you might dream that they are still alive because you were able to get to them to warn them of their upcoming demise, for example. Controlling your dream for the desired outcome is part of lucid dreaming.

Because your body has a biological need to sleep, your mind can remain in a semi-conscious state while your body is resting, which is what makes lucid dreams physically possible.

There are techniques to Lucid dreaming that must be learned. It can be a slow process, but it can be learned with patience and practice.

A good way to start is by trying to recall your dreams. Describe the images, from your dreams as vividly as you can. You can keep a pad and pen or pencil by the bed or lounge chair. Keep them handy so you waste no time jotting down your images clearly. If you don’t remember everything, don’t worry. When the dream repeats its self and it will, you will have an opportunity to finish recording it. Do this technique with all your lucid dreams and you will have a record to use as a reference.

Lucid dreaming is a great tool for writers. You can actually dream about all the characters, the plot and the way you want your story line to move. You can use lucid dreaming for expressing all your dormant desires and manifesting them in reality.

You can sometimes continue the dream where you left off, if you wake up, recall everything you can about your dream, and go back to sleep. Lucid dreams have been found to have a pattern, so chances are you will be able to recall more each time as it reaches a conclusion to your liking.

If you wake before your normal time, let’s say you have a couple of hours to go; this is the easiest time for lucid dreaming. It may seem like you have been awake and thinking all the time, but you have actually been lucid dreaming.

Soon you will be surprised at how easy it really is to do. One short cut you can try is to use self-hypnosis; it can help prepare your mind to recall vividly your lucid dreams.

Another shortcut worth mentioning is a recent development in sound technology called binaural beats. These special frequencies work by synchronizing the two hemispheres of the brain and almost instantly put your brainwaves into the state required for lucid dreaming to be possible.

Many people want to dream lucidly. If you're among them, the first thing you need to think about is how you want to go about learning.

Many people want to dream lucidly. If you’re among them, the first thing you need to think about is how you want to go about learning.

It’s important to think about why you’d like to become a lucid dreamer, too. There are a number of benefits to dreaming this way, but first we should look at normal sleep, so we’ll understand them.

Normal sleep helps us refresh ourselves for the next day. However, if you were a lucid dreamer, you would be able to control the period of time when you were dreaming.

The human body has a built in requirement for sleep. It rests the body so that we are prepared to continue our lives. Without it, there is strong evidence for insanity. That is all well and good but there is nothing saying we cannot control certain aspects of sleep is there?

What if rather than being an active observer, you can be the one who can lead your dream to be whatever you want, rather than your dream leading you? This is what a lucid dreamer is; someone who is in total control of their dreams; able to explore new worlds that are not bound to the physical, societal and time-space laws of the real world.

Are you are ready to begin but remain unsure of how any of this is possible? That is ok we are getting there, there are two way to enter lucid dream state. The first is a dream initiated lucid dream, (DILD). This happens once you have already begun to dream and during the dream, you come to the realization that you are indeed dreaming. At this point, you have brought an element of control to the dream because your conscious mind is now involved.

The second method is called WILD, and stands for wake-initiated lucid dream. This is when you start out awake and fall asleep, but do not experience a change in consciousness levels. This is the process of simply entering a dream, the same way you’d walk through a door, instead of waking up inside the dream.

How exactly do you induce either one of these lucid dream states?

Dream Recall

A simple place to start when you would like to lucid dream is in dream recall. This is where you can remember and perhaps recite your dream in part or in whole. You are very likely to have the same dream more than once in your life and being able to remember them will alert you the next time you have that particular dream.

The way to practise dream recall is by keeping a dream journal. The dream journal is meant as a tool to write down anything you can remember about your dream, in order to recall it for the future. This should be done right after waking up; otherwise dreams will become harder to remember.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

This technique was developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge, one of lucid dreaming’s lead scientists. The method used here is telling yourself that you’ll remember something in your dream. Once in the dream, you’ll see this object, recall what you told yourself, and realize you’re dreaming.

Wake-Back-To-Bed (WBTB)

To use the wake back to bed method you need do little initially beyond setting your clock to wake you up. Set your clock for about five hours sleep give or take an hour, once the alarm goes off get up and do something. Read a book, your dream journal anything but going back to sleep, after approximately an hour you may go back to bed.

According to LaBerge, this technique has about a sixty percent success rate. That’s because you wake up in the middle of your sleep cycle, with your mind not fully aware, and are still in the middle of your REM cycle. This results in something a lot like telling your mind you want to dream lucidly and having it obey!

Cycle Adjustment Technique

This technique was created by Daniel Love, and involves setting an alarm that will wake you an hour and a half before you’d normally get up. Once you’re used to waking up early, alternate between the early alarm and your old alarm. When you’re waking up normally, your body will already be expecting the early alarm, and make you more likely to “wake up” in your dream.

Wake-Initiation of Lucid Dream (WILD)

This method was described before. If you would like to achieve a lucid dream this way, all you have to do is to keep your mind awake while you body falls asleep. This is perhaps the most interesting way of entering a lucid dream. It is as if you are getting ready to watch a movie. You are in the real world, you sit on your couch, you turn on the TV and press play (starting to sleep), the screen is black (in the same way as when your eyes are closed), and all you have to do is wait for the movie to actually start.

A number of ways to stay aware are counting, imagine climbing or descending stairs, chant, control your breathing, count your breaths, and concentrate on relaxing the body from their toes to head. (This all falls under the term ‘self hypnosis’.) It is best to do this when you are not tired, like in the afternoon.

First, it was cds and DVD’s now we have devices that will help you lucid dream. Masks and other electronic apparatuses can be used to recognize REM sleep and give you a light buzz or light to make you aware that you are dreaming.

Definitely the easiest and most reliable way of inducing a lucid dream however is by listening to binaural beats sound frequencies via headphones.

These work by synchronizing the two hemispheres of the brain and have the effect of almost instantaneously changing your brainwaves to the REM frequency needed for a lucid dream to occur.

Combined with the self hypnosis sessions and affirmations to prepare your subconscious mind beforehand, becoming a lucid dreamer is something that everyone can now experience!

Lucid dreaming is also often referred to as conscious dreaming, in that one can often exercise a certain degree of control over the dream, unlike with regular dreaming. Basically, lucid dreaming is all about the art of dreaming while at the same time being aware of the fact that it’s a dream, even while you’re a busy dreaming.

Being in a position where you have full control over the direction of your dreams is something which nobody can truly imagine until they actually experience it. In fact, it is such an incredible feeling that one could almost say it comes straight out of a science fiction novel. All of a sudden it feels as though you no longer have any limits in your life.

Is it really as easy as some people say? Can you experience lucid dreaming and as such, breathe life into something which for years seemed far from reality?

The truth is; lucid dreaming is by no means a difficult task. In fact, if you are serious about learning, then there are various ways you can try which have been tried and tested.

The first thing you need to do is to become absolutely certain as to why you want to master the art of lucid dreaming. Do you imagine yourself having your own personal playground built from lucid dreams, or do you have another reason for wanting to learn and develop this skill? Your reason is not of particular importance, providing it is clear in your mind.

The next step regarding the process of developing your skill is that you will need to master a process which is known as “dream recall”. This will then allow you to recall details of the dreams you have. You need to bear in mind that unless you are capable of remembering a dream, you won’t be able to master the art of lucid dreaming.

Irrespective of what others may have told you, this process can be painfully slow. It can however be achieved a lot quicker if you maintain a “dream recall register”. Maintaining such a register will allow you to record as many details as possible with regards to your last dream. Providing you continue doing this you will with time come to realize that you are able to remember everything about a dream.

For many people, hypnosis has proved to be an invaluable tool with regards to reducing the time required in order to prepare your subconscious mind. In many cases it requires no more than one or two such sessions in order to reach a point where you are able to remember all your dreams on a consistent basis. Once you’ve acquired this ability then you can be rest assured your mind has been suitably conditioned for lucid dreaming.

It’s not uncommon for a person to suddenly wake up while in the middle of a lucid dream. However, because of all the effort you already put into conditioning your mind, if this happens to you, you’ll have no problem reconnecting all the important details and once you’re done so, you simply need to relax in order to go to sleep again. You will then be able to continue with your dream, while guiding it in any direction you choose. You can be rest assured that once you wake up, you will realize the full power of conscious dreaming.

Another method which comes highly recommended, is that you go back to sleep again after you wake up. You can do this simply by setting your alarm to go off an hour or two before you’re scheduled to get up. When the alarm goes off, turn it off and go back to sleep. These dreams are the closest to lucid dreams and you can be rest assured, you’ll start wondering if they were even dreams to start off with.

Another thing to bear in mind is; it can be immensely beneficial to keep track of your sleeping patterns, so as to determine what is the best time for you to have a lucid dream.

In addition to any other reasons you may have, lucid dreaming is also known to benefit those suffering from sleeping disorders such as insomnia. If you have difficulty going to sleep at regular hours, you simply need to convince your mind that together with sleeping, comes an opportunity for lucid dreaming. In most cases this will be enough persuasion for your mind to take over the responsibility of clearing away any thoughts which may be preventing you from sleeping.

Fortunately for those wanting to learn the art of lucid dreaming, the process has become a lot easier than it was in the not too distant past, thanks mainly to advances in sound technologies.

Many people who are just starting out find that the quickest way for them to have a lucid dream, is by taking advantage of binaural beats.

Not only do these beets help to align brain waves to the correct frequency required for lucid dreaming, but as they are played in different frequencies in each ear, they have a wonderful relaxing affect.

Unfortunately, before this technology recently became available, the only sure way to enable you to experience a lucid dream, was by means of meditation techniques. Of course, because such techniques can often take years to master, many people were put off from learning this skill.

When one listens to the sound waves of binaural beats, especially when combined with hypnosis, it is possible to experience lucid dreaming in a relatively short space of time.

If you are unfamiliar with the term, a lucid dream is one in which you are aware that you are dreaming. Lucid, of course denotes consciousness. The extent to which you are lucid within your dream depends on how stable the dream is, how much of the dream you can recall upon waking and how much control you have over the course of the dream.

Having control over the dream is the most important part of a Lucid Dream. It’s an amazing thing to be in a dream yet to know that it is in fact a dream. You are in the driver’s seat of your dream and you can experience anything you have ever wanted to.

Just imagine that for an instant. It looks feels and sounds exactly the same as normal reality, except that you know that it isnt. You know that you are perfectly safe; you cannot die or get injured in a Lucid Dream. There are no normal rules and regulations about what you get up to! It is truly your own Individual Virtual Reality’, with a depth of realism far beyond the most sophisticated computer imitation.

More and more people are learning how too use the skill of Lucid Dreaming. Most of us have a Lucid Dream from time to time but just think how wonderful it would be to be able to have a Lucid Dream anytime you want!

A Lucid Dream offers you the chance to have any experience you can imagine. You can meet and hang out with your favorite celebrities and historical figures, have erotic experiences, visit other worlds, speak with a long lost loved one; anything at all! There are no limits other than your imagination.

But experiencing regular and controlled Lucid Dreams can actually be fairly complicated to achieve. Certainly until recently people would spend months going through an instruction training and self-conditioning procedure prior to obtain familiarity to their first lucid dream. Often people would manage to have but brief instants of lucidity, whereas others never succeed in it at all.

So are there any simple ways of experiencing a Lucid Dream?

Some people report that certain foods can encourage Lucid Dreaming if consumed shortly before sleeping ” Mustard, Orange Juice and dairy products among them.

Other foods of note are pickles, ice cream, popcorn and fish. Although they are not as effective as the three foods and drinks described above. Some people say that they improve your overall dream recall and “prepare” your brain for future lucidity. The main problem is of course that they are high in fatty acids, salts and sugars which definitely doesn’t assist you in getting a good nights rest!

Can Technology Assist You?

As technology improves, so does the chance to get assistance with your Lucidity. There are now modern devices that you can use to stimulate and induce lucid dreams. There are innovative devices like masks and eyeshades that notice faster eye movement and blink a red diode when you begin to doze. This red beam is integrated into the dream, and reminds the person who is asleep that they are dreaming. The person can then start to control the dream once they realize that it actually is a dream!

One of the most exciting developments in Lucid Dreaming comes to us from the world of audio technology. Audio researchers have discovered a process called binaural beats, in which different frequencies are played into each ear.

These binaural frequencies synchronize the hemispheres of the brain; by listening to these frequencies, the brain is helped to achieve REM sleep, the sleep state necessary for Lucid Dreaming.

If you have always wanted to try Lucid Dreaming for yourself, binaural sound presents the quickest and easiest way to begin.
