There is an African tree bark that holds great power. Extracts and tablets made from this bark are used in treating sexual dysfunction and depression. It is also reputed to provide a metabolic boost which makes it a very good aid in weight loss. However, prior to starting a regimen of his holistic supplement, one should be aware of potential yohimbe side effects.

It has been used for centuries to enhance muscular activity and treat impotence. It is also reported to be helpful in combating anxiety and has shown promise in treating post traumatic stress disorder. Some studies have indicated that it may help burn off excess fat in some people.

However, as is the case with any supplement, there are potential adverse reactions. One well-known result of using the extract is a sudden increase in heart rate. Combined with a jump in blood pressure, which this extract has also been known to cause, it can be fatal.

The extract may result in difficulty sleeping, because the general boost in energy one receives from this supplement may cause insomnia. And although it helps treat some cases of anxiety, it can actually create anxiety in others. This is possibly due to heart palpitations or an increase in heart rate that these individuals may experience.

Nausea and dizziness has been known to occur when too strong a dosage is taken. Extreme cases have reported hallucinations, while a severe overdose may result in seizures or kidney failure. As with everything else in life, moderation is the key.

There is a lot to recommend this herbal supplement, but the list of yohimbe side effects should give anyone pause. Only a qualified professional can tell you for sure whether this tree bark is safe for your body. If you feel that this holistic herb is right for you, make an appointment with your doctor and get his OK before you begin.

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is a list we seem to be constantly trying to remake. The almost comforting thing is that the original ‘Seven Wonders of the Ancient World’ was as daft as the copycat lists we insist on compiling: basically a ‘sights to see’ guide to Egypt, Persia and Babylonia for Hellenistic Greece. There is even a group established to draw up these lists, ‘New7Wonders’, and they’re currently putting together a new list having already defined the (via internet vote) the wonders of the modern world. Despite a shortlist that contained modern constructions like, the Statue of Liberty and the Sydney Opera House, this 2007 list largely featured ancient wonders from the centuries originally following the Hellenistic list.

Having put together this completely non-decisive list, the New7Wonders campaign has moved onto defining the ‘Seven Wonders of Nature’. The 28 nominations include locations from every continent, but there is a clear bias towards locations in Eurasia, with few in Africa and North America. Nonetheless, this is a positive project that will drive tourists to seek out the final candidates. Maldives holidays get a well deserved nod as the most significant of the world’s tropical islands and atolls. Other obvious candidates include the Grand Canyon, Amazon and Great Barrier Reef. Environmentally fragile and over travelled anyway, the Great Barrier Reef and Amazon Rainforest are inclusions that won’t really benefit from the results of the poll, whatever happens.

Personally, I’d like to see Vietnam holidays boosted by cashing in on the absolutely spectacular Halong bay. This is one natural wonder the new7wonders website has really under sold. How undescriptive is ‘thousands of karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes’. It really fails to do this beautiful bay area justice, even if the photos are truthful enough. The only other thing to grumble about here is that, as positive as this could be for tourism, where is the value in measuring beauty anyway? Beauty is superficial and visual. Is the freezing cold of the Arctic and the baking sun of the Sahara not in some way something to fill us full of wonder?. There will be no great devaluing by this project. Just because my holidays snaps of my Mauritius Holidays aren’t included, doesn’t mean there isn’t unparalleled and unique beauty to be found there.

When you look to bookSafari Holidays first you must think about a number of things from what animals you want to see, what country you’d like to visit, what type of accommodation and how much you’re willing to spend on the whole trip.

Many tourists ground their decisions on what animals there would likely to see this usually results with them hunting for the Big Five. Your more than likely to find “The big Five” in many of the safari parks across Africa, The highly renowned park which houses these magnificent Animals is has to be the Kruger National park located in Western region of South Africa.

The Big Five is made up from:

Colossal AfricanElephants are magnificent beasts which tend to be rather tame, these intelligent animals sometimes put on an act for human attention which they receive from the safari Jeeps.

White and blackRhino‘s are very timid creatures and a spotting can be rather rare on a single safari, these mighty animals are easily spooked by any foreign sounds movements so it’s best to act with precaution and care around these unpredictable animals.

Lions are the kings of the planes and are commonly spotted lurking around watering holes and grass planes keeping an watchful eye out for straggling or easy prey, watching a pride of lions hunt is a fascinating sight as you may witness the tactical and instinctive skill these professional killers perceive for hunting.

CapeBuffalo are a common sight during safari’s, but caution has to be kept around these large animals as there mood is incredibly unpredictable and they can turn exceptionally aggressive at the bat of an eyelid.

Last but by no means least is the most agile, and seamlessly elegant killing machines in the world theLeopard a Stand alone nocturnal Killer, the rarest sight of all as only reveal themselves at night and with their perfectly suited camouflage spotting on can prove to be rather difficult.

If you’re want to experience the exhilarating thrill of tracking down these magnificent and awesome animalsSouth Africa Holidays are a perfect option, especially if you have your heart set on visiting theKruger National Park

Butterflies are the bimbos of the natural world. Their flight paths meander like disturbed thoughts while also pure and seemingly unencumbered by the direction from a brain as small as a full stop.

They are unbelievable diverse. There are around 18 000 species without being too exact. Flitting from flower to flower, they all behave very much alike and they all look alike. They sup on sweet nectars through a toothless tube that rolls out. Their wings are covered in tiny prisms and mirrors that trick light into gorgeous iridescence, which make them even more gorgeous.

They’re beautiful, sweet, innocent, mild, swish and predictable – no surprise they’re so awfully boring.

Nonetheless, monarch butterflies tip the size off the boredom side. Calculating in caterpillar mode, harmful in color, irritating gradual in flight and so poisonous it makes some birds sick just taking a glance at it – we are able to name it a butterfly with character. And they’re everywhere. Their orange wings are veined in black and edged with white spots, which proceed over their bodies. Their colors show a finger to caution. The males have black spots on their secondary wings, which exude pheromone perfumes that entice females.

They are characterized by their universal obsession with a poisoned chalice called milkweed. Their abiding relationship with the plant takes place on every continent except Antarctica. Birds eating monarchs have been seen throwing up shortly afterwards, so they definitely not good to eat.

The survival strategy of poison-free butterflies such as the mocker swallowtails and viceroys, is to appear like a monarchs as a way to deter predators.

If monarchs get older, the toxins in their system fade to below the danger level for predators. But its colouring signals its former toxic self. Predators don’t know the difference and most have realized the arduous way.

Hydroelectricity has a fairly clean image but there are several factors that make it less than desirable as a mainstream energy source. These factors are both environmental and aesthetic.

Hydroelectricity has a fairly clean image but there are several factors that make it less than desirable as a mainstream energy source. These factors are both environmental and aesthetic.

The most visible environmental aspect of Hydroelectricity is its impact on the environment, as it requires the damming of rivers. This causes the flooding of low lying land behind the dam and while this is often not desirable, the reality is that it is just an alteration to the environment. If the dam was to remain filled with water all the time, this would have no environmental effect outside the dam area.

Why is it then that Hydroelectric installations are associated with high levels of methane production? When organic matter from plants and animals breaks down without oxygen present, methane is formed. This anaerobic process is very similar to the ones that resulted in the formation of the fossil fuels we use today.

Consider the following chain of events that unfold once the dam has been constructed.

First the land is submerged and the vegetation with it. The vegetation drowns and begins to rot. Since there is very little available oxygen, the plant material breaks down to form, among other things, methane that is absorbed by the water.

So far all is normal, just the same as any other permanent flooding. But since this is a power station and in most cases also an urban water supply, the levels tend to fluctuate annually. The water levels drop in dry times. This exposes sections of land at the bottom of the dam.

When exposed, these damp patches of earth that are rich in organic material blossom with new plant life. These areas are usually around the edge of the water body. Shallow dams therefore have more of this area exposed annually.

Eventually the rains come and the dam refills, filling the new plants with water. Then it is the turn of these plants to rot anaerobically, releasing even more methane into the water.

This continues on an annual basis, resulting in a steady supply of methane in the dam water from newly added plant matter. Methane is generally insoluble in water so when the water passes through the turbines of the power station it is released into the atmosphere.

As a greenhouse gas, methane is approximately 21 times more potent than Carbon Dioxide. This means that electricity from a Hydro plant can be up to three times more polluting than from a coal or oil fired power station. This is of course dependent on the climate and geography of the dam’s location. The effect is significant enough for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) taking methane emissions into account when inventorying a nation’s pollution totals.

While Hydroelectricity is a renewable energy source it is not as environmentally friendly as it looks. If there is discussion about whether to build a new Hydro plant, methane emissions have to be considered. Far cleaner are the options of solar and wind power that once built have no emissions whatsoever.

Read more about issues around the topic of electricity generation and use in the Fossil Fuels section of Roger Vanderlely’s website, www.green-planet-solar-energy.com. If you’re looking to reduce your own carbon emissions, have a look at the tips for buying cheap solar panels.

Wanna know some facts about Belize? It is the smallest of all the Central American countries but don’t let that fool you because it has Mayan archaeological sites such as: Caracol, Xunantunich and Lamanai, lots of miles of beautiful white sanded beaches, rain forests filled with wildlife, lots of animal species and a culture with a very noticeable British influence but unique at the same time.

They have an estimated population of only 333,000 in an area twice as big as Jamaica. Here you can find lots of different cultures including Garifunas, Creoles, Europeans and Mayans. It is believed that this country’s name comes from the native word be’lix, meaning “muddy water”, as they referred to the Belize River. There might be a lot of cultures in Belize but all of them have a thing in common: They are warm and friendly people.

Belizean cuisine is influenced by British, Mexican and Western Caribbean cooking. In this country plantains, rice and coconut milk are ingredients of almost all traditional dishes.

This is the only country in Central America where the official language is English but Spanish and creole are common too. It has a tropical weather with a range of 16 to 30 C year round. This along with national parks and a Barrier Reef, over 1,000 offshore Cayes or islands offers tons of fun things to do such as:

* Fishing close to the reef

* Scuba diving among colorful fishes

* Snorkeling around the coast

* River rafting

* Mangrove kayaking

* Hiking in the rain forest

* Bird watching guided tours

* Discovering Mayan ruins

* Cave tubing

Hoodia gordonii is an herb found in the Kalahari Desert. Though reported to be used by the San Bushmen of Southern Africa for a variety of uses as a medicinal plant, its use as an appetite suppressant became popular in recent years. Hoodia is able to make you feel that you are not hungry by imitating the effect of glucose on the nerve cells in the brain. It makes you feel that you are full. You lose your urge to eat. In fact, the hoodia effect is much more powerful than glucose. The San Bushmen removes the stem of hoodia, the flowers, roots and spines, and peel away the outer skin before consuming hoodia when they went for a hunt which last for about a week. This is to stifle the urge to eat and drink.

The San Bushmen of Southern Africa had long known and used an herb, Hoodia gordonii, for a variety of illness. They also used to eat it to suppress their hunger for a number of days when they had to go hunting where food was scarce. After removing the roots, leaves, flowers and spines, they would peel away the skin before eating it. This use of hoodia became popular worldwide only in recent years. Hoodia is found in the Kalahari Desert. What it actually does is to imitate the effect of glucose on the nerve cells of the brain many times over. You will not feel hungry; but instead you feel as though you are full. The loss of the urge to eat will mean lesser calories in your body and lesser still to burn away.

The bioactive compound was identified and isolated by scientists at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). This national laboratory of South Africa collaborated with Phytopharm, a British company, to carry out intensive studies on hoodia and the reported appetite suppressant characteristic. They were able to isolate the compound that gave this effect and called it p57. The appetite suppressing feature of hoodia was effectively confirmed by the scientists after several studies and clinical trials. This further scientifically proved that this traditional wisdom and practice had a scientific basis after all. Prolonged use of hoodia did not show any side effects. The evidence of its safety was demonstrated by the fact that the Bushmen have been using the plant quite confidently for thousands of years. With better standards of living, the affluent society has been beset with yet another major health catastrophe, obesity. Fitness and health consciousness has led to a huge market for products that can manage and control obesity. Naturally hoodia raised phenomenal interest in the market.

Hoodia gordonii was marketed as an appetite suppressant as capsule and liquid. Combined with the extracts of green tea with its natural caffeine, niacin in the form of nicotinic acid, chromium and coca extract, hoodia is promoted as tru hoodia diet. The major hitch in meeting the demand was that hoodia gordonii was found only in the wild in Southern Africa. This was not sufficient to meet the demand of the market. With limited availability, the cost was very high. Its supply too was limited and diminishing.

The supply of hoodia had to be from collection made in the wild. The scope for collection was limited. Attempts to engineer the production of p57 in the lab so that it can be mass produced at a lower cost failed. The rapidly diminishing supply led CITES to name hoodia as a plant that could soon find itself in the list of endangered species. It meant that its trade had to be controlled, restricted and strictly monitored.

Health is essential. That is the very reason why everyone should keep themselves healthy everyday.

With all the talk about going green that is present today you will want to realize that recycling is one of the largest ways to do this. However, you are going to want to make sure that you do this properly when you are starting out. Since this is becoming so large you will realize why it can be so good that cities manage some recycling programs. However, prior to doing this they are going to discover that cities need compactor equipment. Here are the reasons why this can be so good for the cities to do this.

If you are like many people that are recycling you have to take your items to the local collection bin before you can rid your home of them. This can be a very annoying thing to do, but for some cities they are already providing services that they pick things up from your home. So it could just be as easy as them adding on this stop to pick these items up as well.

Then you will want to realize that the city could end up making some money off of this venture. If this was not very profitable you would have to realize that no companies would exist to take your things to. By having these things around that you can take them to you will be able to help your city or local government out in a budget crisis.

When a city is going to manage a program like this you are going to notice that they will be able to encourage this activity more often. When you see that people are coming to the realization that this behavior is going to be very beneficial for the city more and more people will start doing this.

You are going to notice that the city that you live in will start to be a cleaner place. Since many of these bins will be able to set around next to your normal garbage bins people will think about it before just dropping the item onto the ground. Because of the extra bin they might start putting them into the bin since the extra ones will allow for the extra room in them.

Cities are also going to have the ability to make it mandatory for participation or face a fine. Some great programs are already in place to cover this for some areas, but not all areas are covered by this. Now this might not be a good reason to have a city control this, but it is one that could encourage the people to start using these types of programs.

Cities can also have a great influence on many people when making this decision. If you consider that many of the great ideas that are around today were started at a smaller level such as cities or townships you will see that they have managed to grow them into national ideas.

For many cities they will want to find that they can have many benefits of managing a recycling program. However, you will want to realize that cities need compactor equipment when they decide to run these programs, but the profit that they can make could easily allow them to make up the money that they have to invest.
