Dustin Nippert claimed his basis for keeping the No. five place in the Rangers’ starting rotation in the franchise’s 5.0-two win on top of Toronto in the 1st portion of Tuesday’s double header. Next to pitch, Brandon McCarthy, coming back for his 1st since departing the rotation in early June for the inactive list.

Nippert displayed much better finesse than in his latest outing last week at Yankee Stadium. In the Bronx, he let up 11 base runners (four hits, seven walks) and got eleven outs. On Tuesday afternoon, he got out of trouble to obtain his fifth win of the season and 3rd as a starter. Nippert was responsible for five hits, and walked just one. He lowered his ERA as a starting pitcher to 4.43 and overall to 3.91. It was Nippert’s third successful start in his last 5 games.

Nippert claimed there really wasn’t a lot discrepancy concerning how he pitched last week and on Tuesday: “Just able to pitch good pitches. In the Bronx, I believe I pitched one curve in the strike zone. The larger predicament I dug myself in, I tried harder to get beyond it. I was clearly going the wrong way. I kept walking guys, trying to pitch that just right pitch.

“Yesterday, I was able to pitch it in front in the count, late in the count. Keep the hitters off my fastball.”

Claimed boss Ron Washington: “I do not think he was overthrowing. He was equalizing with his change-up and his moving stuff. Increased the speed of his fastball.”

Washington and Nippert mutually indicated Nippert wasn’t playing to guard his place in the rotation. Furthermore Nippert claimed he’ll gladly start or come in from the bullpen. Because the Rangers are in post-season contention, each player’s function augments in importance.

“I simply would like to help out this franchise,” he said. “It’s good for us that we maintain further arms currently. Whoever’s pitching well you can go with.

We live in a world full of obese people. That is really no surprise to most of us. With the obesity rate on the rise there is no doubt that America is facing an obesity epidemic. Most of the super obese know it is a true problem and they are definitely a part of it. The super obese, at least many of them, truly wish they can control some of their cravings for food. What are we doing as Americans to control this issue? Why arent more people involved in trying to solve this problem? It all starts with you.

There is no doubt that America today is facing an obesity epidemic. Oh wait, its already here. There are more people becoming overweight everyday and this nonsense has to stop quickly or we will all be paying for it even more. Health care costs are already up the roof and with Obamas new plan on health care it will even worsen. Are your pockets deep enough to help those who are at risk of heart disease caused by poor diet? Or are you part of the problem?Everyday, more and more people are becoming obese. Our public schools are getting rid of gym classs everyday saying that Mathematics and Science is much more important than staying in shape. The only problem that America faces with people being so overweight is the issues we are having with Health Care costs and obesity. The question arises for many people is, are they causing this problem.

So many people are educated about nutrition and exercise, yet so many Americans are doing very little if anything to take care of themselves. Most people will not do any exercise or eat healthy until a medical professional tells them they will die very early if they do not do something right away to combat their eating habits and lack of exercise. Most people will be on the go right after the initial shocking interview with their doctor and they will watch what they eat and exercise. That typically only lasts a few short months and these people are back at the old habits that will eventually kill them.

How do we stop all of this turmoil and rising health care costs? Again, it starts with you. Do you have a problem with eating out too much or not making it to the gym at least three times a week? There should be no excuse for you not to become involved in a regular fitness routine. The healthier you are the better you will do in anything you venture out to do.

Now is the time to make a difference in your life and those lives around you. Lets come together and fight the obesity epidemic one life at a time starting with our very own. I believe that we truly can make a difference even if we just set a good example to those that surround us.

You may think you can make it to the Major Leagues. Its great if you have aspirations to do that. Realistically the chances of you making it are very slim, regardless of your talent. I dont want to damper your spirits. But one statistic says that there are almost 400,000 pitchers in High School that want to pitch in college. Of those pitchers, there are less than 7,000 open spots for pitchers even at the collegiate level. What about all of those college pitchers that want to play in the show? Take the number of Major League teams and multiply that by about 15. What is going to separate you from the others?

You may think you can make it to the major leagues. Its great if you have aspirations to do that. Realistically the chances of you making it are very slim, regardless of your talent. I don’t want to damper your spirits.

One thing is for sure. If you have aspirations to play at that level, you have to either have a natural God given talent to throw the baseball, or you have to have solid mechanics. Most Hall of Fame pitchers have both working for them. Proper mechanics will help you prevent arm injury and sustain your career. Here are a few tips to follow to ensure you have good mechanics.

If you want to throw faster you must take a stride not a step! In order to establish that explosiveness you want in your delivery, it is imperative that you lead with your hips. This means if you were to lift your leg, your hips lead the way, not your knee. If your knee leads the way you are taking more of a step than a stride. This will slow things down for you.

In order to keep optimal balance toward home plate, it is also imperative to keep your head over your center line until your front foot hits the ground. Balance is what creates control and velocity. Okay, you need to have explosive movements as well. But, you also want to make sure that all of your momentum is going in the right direction and that is straight forward. What you don’t want to do is lean back or lean too far forward creating lack of balance.

The last tip of the day is to make sure you keep balance on the balls of your feet. Many pitchers try and create momentum when they lift their leg up, pushing them back toward first base if they are a righty. If they are a lefty their head will go toward third. When this happens the weight of their body goes back and they lose their balance instantly. It is important that your weight (momentum) go toward home plate throughout your delivery.
