Content Management Systems (CMS) allow the client to manage routine updates once the website is complete. A site might be designed to allow the client, without any knowledge or experience in HTML, to update such things as contact information, event schedules and other content that changes frequently.

Choose from several (some even free) CMS systems. Choose one based on your website needs. This isn’t a complete list. You can choose from a variety of Content Management Systems with differing capabilities. You can determine that the CMS you select will meet your needs by looking at the author’s websites.

Joomla is incredibly versatile. You can use it for almost any kind of website. It doesn’t matter whether you are talking about a personal website or a business site (whether large or small), online publications or even an E-commerce site (however, if you are dealing with an e-commerce site, you may fare better with a dedicated e-commerce package like Zen Cart or osCommerce). Joomla is not difficult to install and, if the web host offers Fantastico, the setup can be completely automated.

Website Baker is PHP-based to make it uncomplicated. The PHP based system permits the user to manipulate text and images with great precision. If the user has familiarity with PHP, it can be completely re-done. Guru.com can refer you to PHP programmers available for contract positions. YOu will find this a surprisingly affordable solution. Useful add-ons are easy to incorporate into a Website Baker site; some popular add-ons include message boards, photo albums, catalogs, and acceptance of online payments.

Drupal. Drupal is not to be undertaken lightly; it requires specific training and education or a series of very hard knocks. The Drupal website even admits that there is a significant learning curve.

Mambo is very versatile, easy to use, and popular. Given the array of available themes, only a few small modifications are necessary to create a really great website.

phpWebSite is great and can be used for many things. A document manager, calendar, form generator, polling system and photo album are all available as add-ons. As is the case with the acquisition of all new information, Content Management Systems involve a specific learning curve. Some PHP knowledge is required in order to do most customizing.

For monitoring your Website traffic, you just can’t beat Google Analytics — and it’s free. It tells you the source and duration of your page hits, which pages are visited, and, above all, where the hits are coming from and what search terms led them to your site.

Why bother analyzing traffic? You need to be aware of which of your website’s pages are receiving the highest amount of traffic, and to know what is leading visitors to those pages. The pages that aren’t working should be rewritten.

Figure out which referrers (other sites which link to yours) are creating the most traffic, and maybe change your site a little to gain better visibility on them.

Have you placed banners or other advertising on somebody else’s website? You can find out the success of that campaign, as well.

Time can cost you valuable cash. If you notice that you have been working on a traffic building method that is not accomplishing too much, you can quit spending your time, or find out where the error is so you can fix it.

See what keywords receive the best ranking. Conduct an investigation to discover new keywords to use in place of the ones that are not working well.

Discover which pages hold your visitors’ attention the longest and their bounce rate. The bounce rate is the amount of people who leave your website without looking at content other than the page they arrived upon. For most websites, it’s a good sign when people stay to read more of your posts and content before they exit.

Finding the right domain hosting can be frustrating at times. The average hosting company can promise the world in the beginning and may bring only problems and issues in the end. One of the hardest things to deal with a cheap domain hosting company is issues with support, or the lack there of. The lack of available customer service could be detrimental to your online business.

One of the biggest problems with cheap domain hosting, although cheap, is that they just dont care enough for their customers. It seems that their main concern is getting paid and customer service is far down the list.

Most people are not doing their homework when it comes to domain hosting. Instead of spending a little time and a little effort in researching and finding an affordable domain hosting company that meets all their needs, most are going with a mainstream, run of the mill, cheap domain host who will host their website and thats about it.

It is absolutely possible to find affordable premium domain hosting for around $10-$15 a month. Why sacrifice features you may need, or that will help with your site management productivity, for a matter of a few dollars per year? This type of added service is referred to as the movie popcorn effect. The movie popcorn effect is when you get popcorn at the movies, you can get the small popcorn, or for .50$ more, you can get the large with an added refill! You tell me which one is the premium value at an affordable price.

Technology is an ever changing industry. With domain hosting being in the technology arena, things change from time to time. New features and services are constantly being developed and updated. Maybe you already have domain hosting and youre not sure if your current domain host is the right choice for hosting your domain and website anymore. There are a few things that you should consider a must in domain hosting. They are:

Cpanel: makes managing and maintaining your website and domain hosting more accessible. The Cpanel has many interfaces to the various facets of domain hosting that you may need or want to change. It allows the end user to quickly and easily manage their domains and hosting settings on their own without having to involve a customer service agent.

Bandwidth: is an important factor in the success of your hosted domain because it determines how many visitors your site will be able to host in a month. Your allotted bandwidth to your hosted domain and website should be at least 75 GBs of data. Anything over 50 GBs of data is good for most websites and will support a large amount of web traffic.

Disc Space: is the total amount of your file data that you will be able to save and store on your domain hosting server. The size of disc space needed will be determined by the size of your website files including images. It is recommended to get between 5-10 GBs of disc space which should be plenty. Some domain hosting packages may include an unlimited amount of disc space.

Proper Web Statistics: covers valuable statistical data like, how much traffic you are getting, which keywords people are using to get to your hosted domain and what other sites are linking to you. This statistical data can give you powerful insights as to what parts of your site are doing well and which parts are struggling.

Attentive Customer Service: as we discussed before, is one of the most important things to a domain hosting account. If your website were to go down, think of the ramifications of having your website be down for a whole day and not being able to resolve the issue with a knowledgeable and attentive customer service staff.

Finding affordable domain hosting may not be easy and all domain hosts are not created equal. You may need to look and compare several domain hosting packages from several domain hosting companies to find one that will suite your needs and budget.

If you are not sure what exactly you need to start or you dont have time to extensively compare domain hosting companies, make sure the domain hosting company you do pick at least has all of the above features discussed. Starting with and having a great affordable domain hosting company will prove to be a good experience and will save you time, money and excess hassle in the long run.
