This wonderful resort is about 50 miles away from Innsbruck and a further 20 miles away from Otztal. This wonderful place has three killer slopes which have three of the speediest lifts on the planet that also have a few of the finest views that I have ever seen. At least one evening in the week the slopes confide in provide you with an opportunity to go evening boarding in style. There is additionally a firework show and all the pieces else imaginable to make the night a success, you possibly can really go for a drink in between runs and actually enjoy all the features of snowboarding while drinking at the identical time. The slope has amazing quantities of powder and actually helps and boarder to accelerate rather a lot sooner than they are used to.

Tignes in France

Set between the Purcell Mountains and the Rockies, the town of Kimberley boasts stunning views and attracts tourists from around the world. Visit the golfing capital of Canada and you might find not just eighteen holes, but even to a real estate agent. If not, just be happy with improving your game.

Golf courses here include Bootleg Gap. This twenty-seven hole course hires out pull carts and clubs if you travelled light. Look for junior rates and play a round with your teenager, or just use the driving range for some practice. Kimberley Golf Club dates back to the early twentieth century and continues to thrive among the competition. Find yourself some gear in the pro shop then stop for a meal after your game.

Shadow Mountain is the newest golf course in Kimberley. Enjoy eighteen holes or nine, with short breaks in between each hole to simply admire snow-capped mountains and lush green mountain forests. The gift shop sells clothing for men and women plus accessories and souvenirs. Arrange for group or private lessons with a certified instructor. Golfing classes have been broken down according to age, with some also set aside for ladies only. Even send the kids to golf camp so they can develop a passion for this popular activity.

With a visit to St. Eugene Mission comes the opportunity to play golf by day and hit the casino at night. Instead of worrying about how to get back to your hotel room after a few drinks and some slots, stay right at St. Eugene. Arrive with a group and split up, some heading for tee time, others to a local spa. Eat out in style or opt for a casual barbecued steak at the on-site restaurant.

Golfing packages make it easy to spend the weekend golfing and hanging out. Stay in a chalet, condo or guest house. Bring a big group of eight to twelve people and split the cost, saving money to enjoy what you came for: eighteen holes. Some rentals include barbecues, hot tubs or even a fireplace.

Trickle Creek Golf Resort offers stay and play packages including a round on their green plus a room a the Lodge. Eat at the lodge restaurant then walk to golfing just minutes away. Come back to soak in a hot tub, swim a few lengths in their heated outdoor pool or burn calories in the fitness room.

Trickle Creek also sets families down right by ski hills, which could get them thinking. What about moving here? Perhaps compromise, laying down just holiday roots. Purchase property in the area for those gaps in a busy calendar that let you get away to golf or ski, alone, with friends or with family.

Should such a plan become viable, remember this is a high end location. BC Real estate can be scarce and expensive in Kimberley, but conveniently close to a local airport for commuting to and from Calgary and other cities. Purchase yourself a fabulous view and plant yourself close to places like Wasa Lake, Radium Hot Springs, and the Canadian Rockies.

It’s not surprising that BC is considered Canada’s golf capital. BC golf vacations are attracting golfers from all over the world, With the beautiful mountains and picturesque natural scenery, take time to enjoy the magnificent BC real estate.

Many vacationers to the resort town of Park City Utah ask the question, "How do I find a place to stay"? While Park City does have a few brand name hotels like Marriott and Best Western, the majority of accommodations are made up of privately owned rentals.

Many vacationers to the resort town of Park City Utah ask the question, “How do I find a place to stay”? While Park City does have a few brand name hotels like Marriott and Best Western, the majority of accommodations are made up of privately owned rentals.

These privately owned homes and condos are available for rent through professional management companies or directly through the homeowner. You may even make a reservation through a booking company or central reservations agency which typically takes a commission of up to 25% from the property manager or homeowner.

Seasoned visitors to Park City often use the Park City Chamber’s website www.parkcityinfo.com to search for information on property management companies offering nightly rentals. The Chamber is a great resource for doing research. Their site allows you to find the names of the different management companies as well as their telephone numbers and websites. You’ll have to visit each manager’s website directly to see what properties they have available for rent.

Since there are so many different property management companies, with new ones popping up each year, many visitors end up booking through central reservations or one of the other booking companies. These services can definitely save time but you’re almost certain to pay rack rate since the property managers have to pay them such a high commission for arranging the business.

While doing research for this article I found a website called www.localtourist.com that connects visitors directly with local businesses in the Park City area. The site is not a booking service; they are a business directory and they don’t take a commission so you’ll likely have a better chance of negotiating a great deal with the actual property manager. Unlike other listing services, Local Tourist allows you to search individual properties and even gives you an estimate of total booking cost before connecting you directly to the property manager to make your reservation.

Local Tourist doesn’t just help with lodging; the site also helps you research the three ski resorts, activity vendors, and restaurants. The restaurant search has all of the standard search functionality you would expect as well as a detailed neighborhood search so you’ll be able to find the perfect restaurant close to where you are staying.

Park City has become a destination for foodies as well as adventure seekers. The town now boasts over 100 restaurants and many are highly acclaimed so you’ll definitely want to do some research before you plunk down your hard earned cash while on vacation. Local Tourist does a great job with their restaurant search feature but you should also check out the Park City Chamber’s website www.parkcityinfo.com because they have a nice restaurant search as well.

If you are an avid skier or someone looking for a picturesque vacation destination away from it all, Park City is a great choice. In addition to world class skiing and snowboarding, the town is home to the celebrity packed Sundance Film Festival, fine dining, spas, and numerous other activities. This quaint little mountain town is also increasingly popular in the summer with attractions such as food and wine festivals, art festivals, fine dining, mountain biking, hiking, and the clean, clear, mountain air. So whether you visit in the winter or summer you are sure to enjoy your stay in Park City, Utah.

Barry Borenski is a Travel and Leisure writer who currently resides in Lake Placid New York with his wife and two kids. Barry suggests the site Local Tourist for vacation planning and reviews to Park City Utah.

People should go no further than the fabulous French Alps for a holiday that is directed at adventure sports. Skiing fields are packed to the rafters during the winter months with enthusiasts everywhere, taking over the mountainside with a fervor saved for no one. Anyone heading for the Meribel Ski slopes in France will wish for the physique of a well-toned sportsperson to be prepared for all the exhilarating activities held out in the fields.

The old-fashioned toboggan has made a big come back into the activity arena for families. Hours of enjoyment are had with kids sliding down hill slopes under their parent’s watchful gaze. A gentle gradient to begin with and within the half hour, children want to take on the biggest slopes they can handle.

Tobogganing is a good first step toward snowboarding for little kids, although it is a fact children as young as three years old have learned how to ski and become enthusiasts. While young, children can develop these interests, which may turn into a full time sporting occupation when they mature. On the way, they can take on many snow-sporting challenges, which will whet their appetite for amateur and eventually professional competition. There is no shortage of ski comps around the world, which involve sports people of all ages.

The Three Valleys is where Meribel is located, nestled in amongst a handful of other resorts in this incredible skiing heaven. Chalets are self-contained as are apartments offered for rent throughout the different seasons but offered at a less expensive tariff in summer, to support an influx of other types of sporting enthusiasts. Exciting activity is in store the entire year long in Meribel.

A free shuttle bus to Allues from Meribel is offered for those concerned with religious traditions. A mass is held at six pm every night and the shuttle runs on a quarter hourly basis. It ends at seven fifteen, so more nighttime events can be planned for afterwards. Live music or a resident DJ can fulfill the eagerness of youth until the early hours at any of the pubs situated in the Valley.

Slalom racing is held quite often on the slopes, so if spectator-ship is more your calling, you will not miss out. Watching the expertise of the professional skiers in action is a thrill to see. Cross-country skiing may be more to your liking, or boardercross snowboarding on one of the many tracks isolated specifically for the sport.

Safety in the mountains is a concern for government. Areas have been designed to control whatever level of skill the participants can handle. Everyone has been provided for. Special locations that suit certain events are fenced off so people can participate, observe, or play in safety.

People who are passionate about snowfields and skiing and sledding will discover all they possibly will ever wish for at the Meribel Ski slopes. Beginning with health and well-being resorts, to animated public houses, skiing the Alps to sledding or tobogganing on special tracks, no one could ever ask for more. It is all here and open for visitors winter, spring, summer and fall.

Learn more about catered ski chalets and how to rent one for vacation. Visit Meribel ski and have the vacation of a lifetime. Head online and make your reservations today.

To the French, their country is an affair of the heart that is shared with the rest of the world through its cultural intelligence. Art, fashion and music are well respected globally, but more international travelers are attracted to the adventures offered at Meribel ski resort. Over eight thousand kilometers of slalom runs, snow boarding tracks and ski fun parks are a focus for international guests, networking the French into a large tourist attraction.

The attractiveness of the downhill ski runs has augmented over the past two decades, as the advent of snowboarding onto the ski scene has the youngest generation of snow sport enthusiasts charging to the snowfields. Boarder-cross runs have been constructed in the safety of seven snowboard parks to serve the influx of eager snow boarder riders and foster free riding skills. Competition level parks are kept in pristine condition for the serious contenders. Some boardercross runs have falls of two hundred meters, which rocks for teens. Two halfpipes and many different jumps are in the snow park.

Festival time is in March, with the Valley sponsoring two events that host comedians, musicians, DJs and skiing the slopes of course. Little Meribel Festival leads the way with five days full of festivities for the snow boarding and skiing crowd. The Altitude Festival follows on the week after, begins March twentieth, and continues through to the twenty-sixth.

Additional recreational pursuits comprise of many entertaining pubs for a little nightlife activity, excellent dining facilities, health spas, dances, and cinema. Hot air balloon flights take off every day if the weather is fine. They take people over the mountaintops displaying a gorgeous view of the fields. It is a relaxing trip that lasts for and hour and a half. There are various other sporting interests available too, with ice hockey, football and bowling.

Apart from the festival and general activities to be enjoyed in the village, Meribel is also host to European Competitions in Men’s Slalom. Eleven nations will be in competition with each other and the slopes to gain accredited title for the Alpine Skiing European Cup. Two races will see over one hundred entrants vie for the title or accrue points for the sport, with a view to the winter Olympics.

However, it is not only an adult sport. Young skiing teens belonging to a team are in training too, looking ahead for the next set of winter games after Vancouver. Contests in the children’s sporting events are created for youngsters aged from 11 to 14 years of age. Skiing is a passion for some children who have set their goals to achieve as much as they can in competition and go as far as their skills will take them. It is an exciting sport to be involved in and Meribel is a fantastic place to sharpen their abilities.

A swim in an outdoor heated pool appeals to the most adventuresome people, especially if it snows. Water aerobics classes are held regularly at the wellness centre for people who want to look after their health while on holiday. Several trained specialists and masseurs are on hand to deliver some healthy indulgence while enjoying a break from the fields.

Travel to the village is as easy as catching a bus. A luxury coach will take a return fare from London, for instance, for under one hundred and fifty pounds. Meribel Ski slopes offer around 200 ski lifts suitable for beginner, intermediate and expert skiers as well as some pretty cool entertainment and activities all year round.

France is a lively country that is host to cultural genius in fashion and art. Among these enthusiasms is a large following for vacationing at Meribel ski slopes. We have got the inside skinny on the best Catered Ski Chalets

One of the best known ski resorts in France, Meribel ski fans have been flocking to the site for very nearly three quarters of a century. Initially a small resort centered on Meribel village, it has grown to be an extensive resort stretching right across the entire middle valley of the Three Valleys area in the South Eastern French Alps.

All accommodation in the Meribel ski resort are well designed, many of which have a certain charm unlike many purpose built resorts in the Alps. In Meribel-Village itself, located at the bottom a blue run from Meribel to Courchevel is a great resort for families. Quieter than many, it makes for a relaxing stay if peace rather than vibrant apres ski is sought.

Many of the individual chalets are situated in Mussillon, near the main road into the resort. From here, the village is accessible too; with a main road running directly to its centre. The road continues further upwards, in two branches; one leading to altiport, (a snow covered airstrip). On the other branch, a recent addition, Belvedere, can be reached; which is well geared to the younger crowd in search for snow and nightlife.

Continuing along the main road, the satellite resort of Meribel-Mottaret is not too far away. Located almost exactly in the middle of the Three Valleys area, everything is accessible. This is certainly the case for the three best routes in the region of; Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Courchevel. And it is this that really pulls in the skiers, as the charm here is not what the rest of the region offers. But with such access, it is not a worry to most.

Further down from Meribel itself, lie two fantastic alternative destinations. Bride-les-Bains is a wonderful spa town, whilst Les Allures a small village are both great to get away from the hubbub of the main site. Both in close proximity to the gondola too, travel is easy.

Wherever you are through the Meribel ski resorts, there is great accessibility to the slopes. There are regular shuttles season long, whilst public transport is convenient and affordable for those on a budget. Having a car does make things easier however, both for heading to other close by resorts, and for travelling around the immediate vicinity.

A car is also useful if more of the area is to be explored, and one area certainly worthy of attention is the village of Vallon. With stunning alpine scenery, there are magnificent views of the glacial Mont du Vallon and the skiers that take it on.

Restaurants in the area vary from location to location, but all serve a good standard of food as is to be expected. The village also has its own pizzeria and fitness center, but the more recent developments have far more organized structure and facilities.

For the best snow in the area, the routes that lie on Mont du Vallon, Les Menuires and Val Thorens are excellent, being north-facing. A lot of work has also gone in to ensuring greater availability of powder in Meribel itself over recent years.

Such is its appeal the Meribel ski resorts will always have their visitors. However, with many lesser slopes, many people will find it a great destination to take their first steps onto the slopes, no matter what season.

To find out the latest on the Meribel Ski resort, you want to find there web page online. You will find that a lot of tourism sites explain the activities and hottest spots to go visit. You can also have yourself catered ski chalets during certain times of the year.

Visitors to the Winter Olympics in Nagano Japan in 1998 were witnesses to the debut of snowboarding as an Olympic sport, it having been approved as such in 1994 by the International Olympic Committee. It is not surprising that it reached the world’s largest sports stage. Since the mid 1960s, an ever increasing number of snowboarders have taken to ski slopes around the world. Its popularity as a winter sport is perhaps best understood if you consider that in the mid 1980s snowboarding was allowed on less than ten percent of the ski areas in the United States; today it is permitted on over ninety-five percent.

Not far removed from the design of a skateboard or surfboard, the snowboard is designed to dash down a snow covered slope. Unlike skiing, this sport entails using a piece of equipment that looks like a short wide ski. Snowboarders’ boots are mounted in flexible bindings that are slightly perpendicular to the board, rather than facing forward as in a pair of skis.

Snowboarding’s broadest appeal is among young people. The largest age group of participants falls into the age range of eighteen to twenty-four. There are two primary reasons for this. The first is cost. Whereas a pair of entry-level skis may run from four to six hundred dollars, one can purchase a starter snowboard, with boots and bindings, for approximately two hundred dollars. Or they can go even cheaper through rental. The second reason centers on athletic creativity and the perception that it is “hip.” The sport lends itself to myriad styles, techniques, and tricks.

Freestyle is the most common form of snowboarding to those new to the sport. Few, if any, tricks are incorporated as part of the run down the slope. Freestyle boards are usually wider, more stable, more flexible and lighter than other boards so that beginners can more easily negotiate turns and bumps.

The freeride style is the form most embraced by snowboarders. Freeriders are not limited to the type of terrain they use (i.e., Snow-covered or dry slopes.) Additionally, they will adapt to various snow conditions, such as deep powder or ice. Aerial, surface and halfpipe tricks make up part of the repertoire of the freerider. Freeride boards are stiffer than freestyle types so to better execute hard turns.

The fastest form of boarding is freecarving. Very few jumps or tricks are performed; speed is the essence of freecarving. Carving is usually executed on hard-packed snow and requires hard turns while hurtling down the slope. It is not a style meant for beginners because of the necessity of advanced board control. Freecarve boards (also known as Alpine boards) tend to be longer and narrower than other kinds of boards.

One of the great allures of snowboarding is the chance to perform a variety of tricks. Not unlike surfing or skateboarding, snowboarding tricks involve jumps, twists, and spins. Some of the better known maneuvers are ollies, nollies, melons, poptarts, flails, Japan air, and Canadian bacon.

Snowboarding should continue to grow in popularity as a winter sport. Its acceptance as an Olympic sport and its ever increasing television coverage has brought the sport into the sports mainstream.

With breathtaking scenery and boundless recreational facilities, the Blue Mountain cottage accomodations provide the ideal vacation experience. Enjoy the vibrant culture, exciting tours, luxurious chalets, lodging rentals, spa packages, and more!

A holiday in the Blue Mountain area near Ontario in Canada will open up a whole new world of family fun. It doesn’t matter which time of the year you go, there will always be lots to do and to see. For the family man Blue Mountain chalets offer the best alternative by far.

For a family or 4 or more, chalet accommodation makes perfect sense cost wise if compared to a stay in a hotel. Should you stay in a hotel, you will have to rent at least two rooms, which will sharply increase the cost of your holiday. To pay for two rooms in a hotel for a week or more will make a serious dent in the family budget and simply mean that there is a lot less money available to do all the things that you planned to do.

Another aspect to keep in mind is that if you opt to stay in a hotel, it won’t have any facilities where you can prepare meals for your family. All of you will therefore have to eat out every single meal, whether in a restaurant at the hotel or somewhere in town. This is bound to sharply escalate your holiday expenses and once again cause you to have less money to spend on other activities.

Something else that a chalet holiday provides in abundance, especially compared to a hotel holiday, is space. Most chalets are very spacious. There will most likely be a living room area where family members can play games, watch television or simply unwind and read a book. You will also often find a large kitchen counter where there are bar stools, so the whole family can get together for a meal or a few drinks.

Temperatures in the Blue Mountain area can plummet during winter. For this reason many chalets in the area have fireplaces around which all family members can get really comfortable on a long winter evening. There is simply no way that an electric heater in a hotel room can ever be compared to the ambiance provided by a crackling log fire. These cozy evenings will become some of your fondest family members in future years.

Other facilities provided by many of these chalets are things like pool tables, private swimming pools and even hot tubs. A pool table is ideal to while away the quiet hours of a long rainy evening. Afterward jump into the hot tub before going to bed. And on a hot day there’s nothing as refreshing as a dip in your own private pool. If you don’t have a private swimming pool, there will most likely be a communal pool close by.

If you should opt to stay in a chalet it of course doesn’t mean that you’re cut off from life in the vicinity. You can go out as often as you want. There are so many restaurants in the immediate area that you can dine out at a different place every night of the week. If mom and dad want to break away to a cozy, candle-lit venue and the children want pizza, it won’t be hard to find exactly what each group want conveniently close to each other.

In so many respects a holiday in one of the Blue Mountain chalets is the perfect family vacation. There’s so much to do and to see in the surrounding area that family members will never get bored. There is entertainment for people of all ages and every family member will go back home regenerated and ready for what life has to offer.

Planning to ski or snowboard but don’t have a place to stay? Save money by staying in Blue Mountain chalets instead of hotels. Enjoy the comfort of a home while being close to the mountain in these Blue Mountain accommodations. With breathtaking views and in an area with many unique experiences, you’re bound to enjoy yourself.

A family ski vacation can be cheaper than you imagine and there are lots of ski destinations that cater especially for the needs of families. There are many offers available that will help you save cash provided that you do a bit of research prior to booking.

Before you book a family ski holiday check and see what the holiday companies are providing as a holiday deal. Many companies offer free or reduced child deals when the children share the room with two adults and in some cases will also provide an excellent offer for a second child as well.

Do not worry if you are not all expert skiers as you there are numerous destinations that offer ski lessons to cater for all abilities and some run special ski camps just for the youngsters. Equipment can normally be rented if you do not have any already. There is no reason to go out to purchase skis, boots and special clothing if you are not sure you will enjoy it.

Make sure you also pick a ski destination that has ski courses that are acceptable for everyone in your group. You can not expect a beginner to handle some of the difficult runs as they could quite easily get hurt or get into difficulty. There are many family friendly destinations that would be appropriate. Make sure that the resort is also suitable for any snowboarders that have travelled with you.

Lodgings are also an important factor as you want to be able to unwind after being on the slopes all day. Make sure the accommodation you pick is suitable to you everyday standards that you would expect at home. A ski vacation at a cheap cost may not be worth it if you have to lease another property as the one you book is of a poor quality.

If you have very young kids it is possible to find a good family holiday resort with expert child minding available. This way you will be able to have more time on the slopes whilst your kids are being watched for you.

A Neilson ski holiday for the familly can be a fantastic vacation if you plan ahead, check out the great tips from travel expert James Mason of Travel Snips

If you are looking for an alternative type of holiday for your family you could try a ski holiday. It is not a problem even if none of you can ski as almost all ski destinations have ski schools where everyone can all learn to ski in a fun and relaxed environment. No prior knowledge of any aspect of skiing is required before you go. Your teacher will take you through everything you will need to know so do not worry.

Learning to ski is great fun and most ski resorts do have ski schools so make sure that when you select the destination for your ski vacation you pick a destination that indeed does have one. Lessons can very reasonably priced particularly if you take a group lesson package where you have a lesson each morning of your vacation. It is in all probability a good option to arrange this before you arrive so you are able to get each member of the family booked in. This way you will be prepared to start on the start of your ski vacation.

Ski equipment is normally included in the cost of the lessons however just check to make sure when you make your reservation. If the children or mum are better skiers than the rest of the household do not worry about it, they can be reserved into a different group. This will enable you all to get lessons appropriate to you individual abilities.

The first manoeuvre you will discover is called just the plow or snow plow. This is a manoeuvre that is done by basically using your skis as a snow plow shape. This will give you some primary control using the skis. It is very easy and will get you started very quickly and after a few days of ski lessons you will be surprised what you can do.

As a beginner make sure that you reserve a ski holiday in a destination with a number of runs for your level. Before you know it you will be addicted on this outstanding fun sport and thinking about your next ski vacation as soon as you get back.

Your first choice ski holiday can be a great sucess provided that you plan ahead and select the best resort for you abilities. Find out more with skier Alan C Bain of A Travel Agents travel web site
