Just in time for tax season you will find yourself presented with this years editions of popular tax preparation programs that promise to make tax filing a breeze for the average person. Which one is right for you and what are some of the most popular electronic tax filing solutions? Read on as we discuss your tax preparation options and explore the popularity of electronic tax filing.

Federal Payroll Tax Withholding Tables

What to look for in choosing a tax preparation solution? Newcomers should look for software that takes a step by step approach throughout the digital tax preparation interview and one that presents interview topics that are easy to understand and answer.

One of the most usefull features of tax preparation software is that it lets you play around with your figures and try out hypothetical situations. Many of the top programs also come with importing features that allow the user to import data from other programs directly into the tax preparation software.

Because of their ability to do extensive calculations and other automated checks, electronic tax preparation and filing is reported to have only a small error rate of less than 1 percent. In fact, using tax preparation software will almost always result in a more complete and more accurate tax return.

With the growing popularity of high-speed Internet connections and advances in Internet security, more and more tax preparation is being done online. Using online income tax preparation services has proven to be secure, easy and accurate. With an explosion in online resources at your fingertips, the taxpayer can do a job equal to that of a professional.

State Income Withholding Tax Tables

Either way, it’s clear that electronic tax preparation has really taken off and become quite popular. Its because of these benefits that once again this year, taxpayers will be turning to tax software to help them prepare and file their taxes. Did you know that you can even prepare and e-file your taxes wherever and whenever you access the Internet? The IRS Free File program, which is designed to help taxpayers file their taxes electronically, is best for those taxpayers who prepare their own taxes and still file paper returns. It is also important to note that if you are filing taxes for prior years, you are not eligible to file electronically.

By doing taxes online, you are empowered to prepare and efile your own income tax return. And, like doing banking online, doing your taxes online is easy, fast, accurate, as well as very secure. If you’re considering doing your taxes online, why not give it a try this year? While it still isnt a blast, doing your own taxes will give you a feeling of accomplishment.

Annual Gift Tax Exclusion Amount

Like most people, your likely dreading the task of doing your taxes that and mabye you would like to make it easier this year. With some prior planning, you can make doing your taxes a lot less dreadfull and can help avoid any unpleasant surprises.

It happens every year, sometime in December, when you need to start thinking and organizing yourself for tax time.

It happens every year, sometime in December, when you need to start thinking and organizing yourself for tax time.

Yes, taxes are a “chore” however, the 1040A can make filing rather painless. For the average person, filing often results in a decent cash refund. Generally is it is the fear of the unknown regarding your taxes, that have people running scared.

Now, you may think that you dont make enough money, so why bother filing. Or, the IRS only watches for high income earners, so theyll never know if I don’t file. Guess what, they will ~ filing your taxes has two benefits 1) There is a good chance youll receive a refund ” why would you not claim YOUR MONEY? 2) If it turns out you owe money, chances are it is not very much. Better to pay now than get interest charged- as it really does add up.

If you think that you have not earned enough money to file think about the fact that the government owes YOU! Not filing taxes can also have some serious consequences if you do owe the IRS. It is better to know where you stand and make arrangements for payment then to stick your head in the sand and hope that it goes away unfortunately the IRS never does.

My recommendation to lots and lots of people is to use FORM 1040A, also referred to as the short form to determine their federal taxes. It is a simple two page form that is intended to cover regular types of income, deductions and credits. I often recommend my clients start out with the 1040A if their finances are uncomplicated. The 1040A is much easier to complete than the 1040 and it takes less time to process.

You are allowed to use the 1040A if:

Your taxable income is less than $100,000 (subtract your total deduction from your total income).

You did not exercise incentive stock options.

Income comes from:

Capital gains,

Grants and/or scholarships,

Interest and dividends,

Pensions, annuities, IRA distributions,

Social Security benefits,

Unemployment,

Wages

Deductions are standard:

Classroom expenses

Student loan interest

Tuition and fees

You are claiming the standard tax credits which are:

Retirement savings contributions

Elderly and disabled credit

Child and dependent care expenses

Earned income credit

Child tax credit

Additional child tax credit

Lifetime Learning and Hope education credits

Since youve read made it thru this article, why not take the next step and get your taxes done. Youll feel relieved if you can file before the deadline and that refund check will be on its way!

Almost nobody likes doing taxes. The process can be very stressful. Therefore, sometimes it just makes sense to get some help with them. For tax return, you can get help from various resources, such as tax preparation professionals, tax software and the IRS.

Tax preparers are individuals who were trained for the job or have picked up the skills over time. They are not difficult to find. You can find tax preparers in places such as H&R Block. The advantage of using a tax preparer is that the costs are relatively inexpensive.

Enrolled agents are a step up from tax preparers. An enrolled agent has license and can represent you at an audit. However, keep in mind that the professional knowledge and quality of work varies from agent to agent. Some can be excellent. Others are less impressive.

CPA stands for Certified Public Accountant. It’s not easy to obtain a CPA license. It requires significant study and the licensing test is very difficult. If you have a unique or complex financial situation, for example, being a small business owner, you might want to use a CPA. Usually CPAs can also make suggestions to significantly lower your tax bill. CPA services cost more. However, the savings can outweigh their fees.

The technology of computers has minimized the risk of making mistakes. Tax software is now available for people who want their taxes to be done accurately and conveniently. There are different types of tax software you can use for different purposes. While you can buy tax software from local stores, the best place to find tax software is actually the Internet. Buying tax software from the Interest is very easy. For some software, you can usually download it onto your company and start using it right away. There is also other tax software that does not require any installation at all. You can finish the whole process on-line on their websites.
