The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set on The Beatles USB

One of the few bands not to release their music as mp3 downloads are The Beatles. Actually, I don’t think any other platinum selling band is still holding out on digital downloads.

When it was announced that The Beatles were finally releasing their music digitally on December 8 of 2009 I think most people probably guessed that it meant that they were going to be sold as downloads but that’s not true, instead they have gone another way: The Beatles USB Flash Drive.

This Beatles USB stick includes The Beatles Stereo Box Set except of course in a much different format than 16 CDs and 1 DVD. This Beatles USB flash drive that you can hold in your hand includes all of the same elements as the much larger box set.

The USB includes all of the Beatles stereo remasters in that box set two times because it holds both 320kbps mp3s and 24bit FLACs. I’m certain you have experience with mp3s (and 320 mp3s are the highest quality that mp3s come in) but how about the 24bit FLAC files, what are they all about? Simply put these FLAC files are considered to be “lossless” which means they do not have any loss of sound quality like mp3s do. And because these FLAC files are 24 bit instead of the 16 bit files that are on compact discs, they are of better quality than CDs.

What this means is that The Beatles USB memory stick includes the best quality version of The Beatles remasters! This might change if they decide to release these remasters on Blu-Ray or DVD but for now this is the holy grail for audiophiles when it comes to The Beatles music in stereo.

What about the original mono mixes? Sadly these are not included on this USB flash drive. You still must purchase The Beatles in Mono remastered box set to hear their music in mono.
