Three Ways to Fix a Slow Computer
There are a lot of reasons or grounds that a computer will start to slow down. Unfortunately it’s a reality that PCs tend to get filled with a lot of junk files. This is one of the main reasons why you will notice a computer start to bog down as it gets older.
How exactly do you fix a slow computer? Well, there are few definite answers when it comes to computing because of all the different possible computer configurations and circumstances. Nevertheless, there are some common ways to fix a slow computer, which I go into below.
1. File defrag
As you use your computer fragments of files get “jumbled” on your hard drive. Each portion is connected when you access the file you want to, but since the files have to be “connected” as such your computer runs slower.
For this cause if you defrag your computer (the fitting software comes in all Windows installations) your machine will probably start running faster.
2. Registry defrag
Each time you install an application or make a system-wide change data is stored in the computers “registry”. However, when you uninstall an application or the system-wide change becomes irrelevant this data can sometime be left in the registry making it bloated and slow. Your system has to constantly call on and search through this data store and the bigger it is the longer it will take. Luckily it is possible to download registry defrag software which will help fix this problem.
3. Reformat
The imposing answer of fixing a slow computer. Reformatting your PC wipes your hard drive and forces you to set up again. This removes all the bloat and unnecessary files and allows you to be more cautious in terms of what you put in and how many files you have on your computer. Always keep in mind to backup your files before you reformat!
