What to Look For in Shower Filters

There are many different shower filters that are out there. You have to be careful when buying one because some are very effective and some are not. In this article we will explain to you which ones are best for you and your family.

Before you find out which shower filters are the best for you, its best you know a little background on them. Shower filters were originally supposed to be used more for cosmetic purposes, to remove chlorine in water, because to much chlorine would damage the hair and skin.

Some people are allergic to chlorine, which will dry their skin out so much that it will create a rash. Something that a lot of people are probably unaware of, is that chlorine can be found in just about every fresh water supply.

In most cases however, chlorine isn’t going to do much harm to your health unless you are allergic, or there is an over abundance of it in the water. Chlorine by itself will typically not do much to you, but once it reacts to the bacteria, and other parasites that are in the water, the byproduct it creates can be very harmful.

The research supporting these statements was released early last year. But, the research was completed many years ago. Respected publications did not want the public to know. They felt there would be a call for the end of chlorinationor at least, thats what they said.

With that said, if it were up to me I would tell everyone that they need to get a shower filter in the bathroom, and a purifying system in the kitchen. There was a reason as to why they didn’t want you to know and that was because they were afraid of the very large cost that was going to come along with the new disinfection methods.

When it comes down to how these are studied and groups most people are unaware of how to look for chlorine and other bacteria in their water. You will need to know that there are many different compounds that are released during the disinfection process. These compounds are simply known as THM’s (trihalomethanes) or TTHM’s (total trihalomethanes). THM’s are found on a performance guide and TTHM’s are found if you read a quality report.

The main objective here by using a shower filter is to reduce the amount of chlorine in your water. Higher amounts of chlorine can often indicate that there could be some THM’s in your water which if you did not know are cancer causing contaminants. If you are not aware of the fact that you can actually consume contaminants by breathing because once the water is run there are airborne contaminants.

Did you know that you can also consume these contaminants by taking a shower? This is because if not filtered there are many contaminants out there that can be consumed through the pores in your skin, because they are so microscopic. Just when everyone thought that there was a much higher chance to consume contaminants by drinking water, now studies say that the bathroom holds more than the kitchen.

Be advised, those expensive shower water filters made by Wellness provide effective contaminant removal, but they cost a lot more than necessary. Instead of paying $189 for a system, you can get an effective one direct from the manufacturer for around $67.

So get out there and take the first step forward to having cleaner healthier water in your home
