The Balearic Islands are situated in the Mediterranean Sea, just only some miles off the east coast of Spain. There are four islands that composes the Balearics are Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera. Mallorca, is also known as Majorca. This name means long-term leisure, magnificent sunshine, gorgeous beaches and a celebration ambiance that are going to last eternally.

The collection of islands together forms the independent society of the Balearic Islands and constitutes Palma de Mallorca as the official capital. The official language is Catalan. This language is spoken on the islands with each having its unique accent, which also makes the inhabitants identifiable for their origin.

Ibiza is the place where night never sleeps and the people do party all night long. The beaches with white sands are just wonderful. The mixture of blue sea waters with these white sand beaches and the trees hanging down their branches creates a breathtaking view. The restaurants are just marvellous.

The variety of food is immense and the garnishing is made in such a way that hunger never goes off. There are cobbled streets with white structures around them. You will love to saunter around in Ibiza. Ibiza has everything to attract visitors from each class of people from rich to middle class or from young to old ones. Majorca is the biggest of the four Islands. The majority of visitors first stay at this island. Therefore it is always crammed with tourists. Due to this influx of huge number of visitors the nature has been put to some change. The glorious coast line is being replaced by the magnificent hotels to cater the needs of tourists.

Shopping complexes are growing in numbers to make the visitors fulfil their desires of shopping from this destination. This aspect has also strengthened the economy of the Majorca and of Balearics as well. It is also an incredible place to witness the local food and traditions.

Menorca is the second main isle after Majorca. This island is perfect for people who like isolation. There is no activity like other islands of the Balearics. This island hosts very few tourists as contrast to other islands of the area. This has made this Menorca Island a calm and neat place. This fact has also saved it from the pollution and the bad effects of mass tourism. So as a result it has retained its natural loveliness intact.

Formentera is also an island that has not yet been developed as Ibiza and Majorca. It still does not have the airport facility therefore one has to travel through boat or hydrofoil which runs from Ibiza to Formentera on daily basis. This island is also unspoilt due to the fewer visitor numbers. The natural beauty is still preserved to witness the real Balearics grandeur. It is purposefully made restricted to save the island from being polluted. These are the reasons for the fact why so many people are booking a last minute holiday to Balearics.
